View Full Version : Why no credit for reaching patrol area?

During the campaign i have noticed that you have about a 50% chance of NOT getting credit for reaching your assigned patrol area.

I was assigned to patrol the Jawa sea and went right into the area of the little patrol star, then sailed right into the center of it several times... sank about 30,000 tons of metchants in the Jawa sea

but still the mission was labeled as INCOMPLETE :damn::damn::damn::damn:

about the 4th or 5th time something like this has happened.

WTF?

Oh and one other thing.... dropped off the spy at the island he got about 500 feet from the boat, flipped over and sank and the mission was "COMPLETE"

CHEESEY!

There was at least one other thread on this, I think the time on station is different now. It's no longer just 24 hours, it's as long as 14 days.

US subs don't use squares.

You ought to be able to get a completion after 48 hours, patrolling in the vicinity.

14 DAYS??? sitting ducks? it gonna take a long long mission lmao....
but on the other hands it saves fuel if you stick around in that grid :D

im not sure how i feel about the tactic of stalking convoys with escorts in waters near the phillipene islands often as shallow as 35 meters! let alone for two days.

Got my arse busted by some destroyers after they were POd by me sinking 1/4 of their convoy. deployed some decoys and went as deep as i could maybe 35 meters with 4 or 5 under the keel... managed to get away but i had some pretty serious holes in the boat.

ill try to stick around for several days and see what happens.

seems like on some missions i just get to the vicinity of the little objective star and it shows "complete" with a new objective popping up "Engage enemy merchant shipping".

I was told in a thread I made that included this same question that you have to be within what... 55nm? Something like that, of that patrol icon (the binoculars thing). If you do that and stay within that vincinity you can get credit after 2 days. I don't know if this is true. We'll see :)

My previous campaign . . when I finally got to the patrol area I couldnt even open the Captains Panel without a lockup. Reinstalled the game and the same thing happened . . . so I guess I got a corrupted savegame somehow.

Have started a new campaign. Currently things are OK. At least until I accidentally hit the Maintain Depth key (A) and I CTD'd. Sigh.

This seems mostly due to the enourmous amount of radio messages you recieve, they seem to bloat the Captain's Panel the further you go into your patrol, making it take a looooong (very long) time to load, eventually.
