its my Salmon's maiden voyage, i've been sent to take some recon photos. On the way i've stumbled upon a task force which looks to have 2 Kongo Battleships.

Where do I shoot it to get the most damage? Is it even possible for me to sink 1? both? I don't have much expierience shooting at warships. I'm currently in position to have it pass 500 meters in front of me w/ 90 degree AOB
I hit a Kongo-class BB with four torpedoes today and she kept on steaming, although heavily listing to port. I doubt you can sink both, especially if you play with dud torpedoes.
I'd set torpedo depth to 20ft, torpedo speed fast, impact detonator, and fire all torpedoes at one target, spreading the angles a bit (~2°).
I just hit a Maya light cruiser with 3 torps, contact pistols, about 2/3 aft. Broke her back. (shoulda seen/hear me, my wife was like WTF is wrong with u :D )
I've put 6+ torps into the side of a small cargo also and it just sailed on... just goes to show you never know how many it will take.

Generally directly under the funnels where you might expect the boilers to be is the best place.

I put 1 eel under each of her guns at approx. 7 meters depth. Here is the outcome.

Now comes the fun part. Escape. :arrgh!: Thanks for the tips

That sounds like magnetic torps in that case. 4 direct contact set torps should definately down one. I've taken one down with 2 torps on contact.
Nope, I never use the Mk14 with magnetic settings. But the problem could be that I fired them at a too close an angle, thereby hitting roughly the same portion of the BB. Will use a bigger spread next time.

Eels, fish, muskrats. The Japs don't feel a difference.

do you ever get your magnetic ones to actually go under and blow up directly below like i mentions in the manual...? and is there some way to set it so you always have fast and contact instead of slow and magnetic because its such a pain to switch it for each one and i never fire more than 4500 yards away so i dont need slow ones. and definitely makes a difference how close the impacts are...my impact hole moved about 6 inches after the second torp hit so it was 1 hole basicaly 1 hit not two.

Man, those Kongo's sure are hot targets. It seems nearly everyone (myself included) has sunk at least one on their first patrol. At the rate some of us are going, the IJN will have ceased to exist by 1943. :o
