heya everyone, i got sh4 last night at Eb games at Eatons Center Downtown Toronto, never came with bonus materials but i dont really care that much if i got it or not big deal about some paper(save the trees:up: ). ok im gonna be reviewing sh4 and explain in depth many things that ive noticed that probably arent talked much about on te forumz (not sure about it but meh).

ok when i first installed this game and started a career, i set it to NORMAL settings for my campaign, 1941 at Pearl Harbour, in my tambor class sub, first things i noticed when i started the campaign, was:

+ I have been reported to duty screen, and when i entered the room, i was amazed on the camera movement in my office:up: , excellent job on lighting effects for the office.
+ when i started playing the campagin, there wuz little video on jap conquests during the beginning another plus:up:

+ now after leaving the harbour (excellent wake effects) i noticed something very special, after recieving my orders to patrol an area, i started getting radio traffic! another excellent + ,

+ while i was en route to my patrol, destination, i recieved a special order to insert a operative behind enemy lines, so i changed course and went to ahead standard to get there faster, i went to periscope depth, and arrived at my destintation thru my periscope i could see a small town on the coast, i waited till nightfall and surfaced at 0 knts and since water was transperent the scene of the surfacing looked like something out of a movie looked very cool

+ another thing i noticed is how the ships sink based on torpedo hits, thinking about GWX it looks like the devs implemented flooding (not 100% sure plz clarify) in the game and implemented graphics as to when the torpedo hits the ship there is a gaping hole.

+ another plus is the crew management, i like how we can set priorities on which parts i want to fix first.

now for the megatives i hope there arent alot:up: ,

- the bugs for the chronometer, and the bugs for the transperent crew

- difficulty settings cant be set custom in the career (edit:now it can be set to custom settings)

- FSAA not available FOR NOW (aa will be implemented soon (as wut i heard))

- it uses up around 1.1gb of ram (i alt tabbed and checked i have 2gbs of dual channel OCZ performance ram)

if enyone has enyquestions or comments please post so, cheers and good hunting:up:  :arrgh!:

In more simplistic terms Uber= Super in most cases like for example.

"n00b i r t3h uber"

In english that translates to.

"Newby I am the Super"

Thanks for the review elite hunt3r :D

uber: "

(1) german word for "above" or "over" (correct spelling "über")
(2) Became popular in the american language through its occurence in a phrase of the old nazi-time german anthem, re-used by punk bands ("california über alles")
(3) Is now used as a substitute for "really" or "very" etc.
(1) Ich sehe die Sterne über mir (I see the stars above me)
(2) "...Deutschland über Alles..." (Germany above All Things)
(3) This website is über-informative

"

Term with literal meaning of "above" in German. Brought to the mainstream in the early 80's by hardcore American punk band, the Dead Kennedys when using the term in the anti-Californian government song "California Uber Alles", which is a take off the German motto of "Deustchland Uber Alles", which translates to "Germany above all." The term was picked up in their native California stomping grounds by the typical surfers and "punks" and extended from there to many teenagers, the majority of which use the term online.

"

German word: translation above or over

Used in the German anthem 'Lied der Deutschen' as 'Deutschland ueber/uber Alles' (germany over all others).

Used in 31337speak or netspeak meaning best, very, ultimate

Could come from the word amazing in german (Überraschen)
Über alles

Gah, uber lag :(

added more to the review

+ is the realistic sea floor, and the plankton in the water, although its annoying at times when u want to look up close to the damge uve caused after the torpedo hit:arrgh!:

- in the tambor class the AA gun is in the conning tower meaning the bottom half of sky ( between looking up and horizon is not visible because of the conning tower.

And he used it inappropriately; that "review" wasn't very long at all.

"uber" is NOT German, it's leet-speak. For German it owuld be either Über or ueber. Yes, there IS a difference. "uber" would be pronounced "ubber" (like rubber sans r) and ueber (or über) is pronounced oo-ber (gike goober without the g).

Leetspeek is NOT German!

I just got the game, and I can safely say that it is the best game I have purchased since I got The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. It's that good. I haven't encountered any bugs so far (aside from the minor "ghost frames-per-second eating rectangles), but aside from that, I am superbly impressed. Easily, in my opinion... best game of 2007... so far.;)

Well in Swedish we have "över" that means the same thing as "uber" = 'over' and/or used in describing something: "really good" or it can be used to describe something bad as well. Depends in what context it is used.

- difficulty settings cant be set custom in the career
This isn't true. You can adjust the difficulty settings in the mission room after starting a career. Look at the bookshelf on the left in the room. You can change settings there.

updated found out some new tings while i was attacking a convoy with my mk14 torps, and my bb gun and knfe:arrgh!:

+ when a convoy is under attack DD makes sounds like warning sounds (like klaxon type sounds) and the merchants whenever a convoy gets under attack blare off a sound almost te same as a air raid warning sound.

+ also when a torpedo hits theres small splashes around the area damaged in the water simulating flying pieces.

I wasn't criticizing your stuff, I think it's quite good. I was just observing that you apologized for an "Uber-long report", and I was expecting from that that it would be something like 20,000 words. It's fine as it is, and thanks for sharing your experiences so far.
