I set the options I want then start a career.
Trouble is the settings revert back to to default level which is "easy"
Also tried selecting the Normal and Hard levels but they too default back to easy when the career starts.
I guess I could go into the My Docs SHIV folder and change the config files there but that seems a pain in the you know what.
Anyone else experience this? Any tips for fixing?
TIA

You need to set and apply the career difficulty level by clicking on the options book in the office immediatley prior to clicking on the map and starting your career. That setting should hold for your career. If you don't set it there it will always default to easy.

Thanks!
I'll do that next time.
For now I edited the 2 config files and reloaded from autosave which gave me the levels I wanted.
Funny thing is I wasted yesterday evening playing on easy settings.:nope:
I thought man.... they sure reload those torps fast and this boat has fantasticly low fuel comsumption rate. ...not to mention thumbing my nose at those "incompetent" escorts......:damn:
Oh...well..today will be better.....
What exactly does this setting do? I mean, you already custom your realism in another option screen. Is this the enemy AI? Is "normal" truly "realistic"?

Aha! Jeez I should kick myself for forgetting the main.cfg file is maintained in my Documents folder. It's been so long since I last needed to fiddle with it in SH3. That explains why the file in the CFG folder in SH4 is never touched. While I was there, I set all the DEV settings to "No."
