Has anyone got any details on the subs in the game. Theres nothing in the manual or museum that i can see. I really have no idea about US subs so have no idea what im picking. Speed, torpedoes, range, anything would be nice

You can get some information from the game-files. Look in the following folder:

*SH4-Catalog*\data\Submarine

Here you will find a bunch of catalogs, one for each sub (some uses the same). Open the cfg-files with a text editor to read the information.

for example
*SH4-Catalog*\data\Submarine\NSS_Salmon\NSS_Salmon.cfg
to read about the Salmon
