ubi hates canada, b*****ds , i bought the game today because i support the DEV team not ubisoft, and i also support the silent hunter series, i never got bonus material with mine and i dont need it IMHO, too busy sinking ships and evading DD's
Another reason to hold off on buying it. Bloody hell. I never understand why Canada gets the short end compared to the US so often. Its not as if we don't have a strong gaming culture. Hell we make craploads of games too. Between Ubisoft Montreal and EA in Burnaby Canada is a hotbed for gaming. Why we get screwed on the receiving end likely has something to do with NAFTA. We get screwed by that so damned much.
I bought mine in Canada today and got nothing either. Not even a keyboard guide or a colored manual - just a black and white one. Very disappointing - it seems that Canadians are the only ones who will get no chance at bonus materials of any kind.:nope::nope::nope:

to be fair.. you are canadians... your greatest military achievement was you were the first to develop the ICBM
Intercontinental Balistic Moose... you got a moose drunk on Molsens and Maple syrup and launched it with a wooden catapult.

don't hit me
Is this just a problem with EB Games, or is this happening with all Canadian retailers? If EB Games was somehow responsible for the packaging disappearing, then I will try to get my money back and buy it elsewhere.:stare: But I imagine that this a national problem, and not with a particular retailer.
Have any Canadians bought their copies from another retailer - maybe Futureshop or Walmart?

Yeah, my manual is about a hundred pages. Only problem is, it's half English and half freaking French!
No DVD documentary either...
(UBI, I'm in Toronto. WE DON'T SPEAK FRENCH HERE!!)
Arrowhead2k1, where did you get your copy?

lol, pretty funny
But I have to point the following:
Vimy Ridge, The Somme, The Battle of the Atlantic, Juno, The Schelt, Ortona, Kapyong. Ever hear of a fella named Billy Bishop? I could go on.....
Got my copy of SH4 today at EB downtown Edmonton. I was disappointed too
Maybe it's because they just spent millions building a new studio in Montreal

It seems to be a National problem. I have been told that Ubisoft support is blaming EBGames saying that that was the version that they ordered. Trouble is that it also sems to be the version that Futureshop must have ordered.
No worries.
On the official Ubisoft Website, on the official Ubisoft forum, an official from Ubisoft posted the following...
================================================== =====
US/Canada Packaging
$49.99
Can be purchased from official Ubistore (http://store.ubi.com/) and major US/Canada Retailers and online stores
Available only for a limited time, no other versions available in US/Canada until time runs out
Premium Packaging
100+ page manual including reference material
Fold-out historical map of the Pacific theater
Fold out ship recognition poster
Quick Reference Card
1-hour of WWII-era documentary footage about U.S. submarines from Periscope Films on a Bonus DVD (Region 0/All)============================================== =========
So this is a Ubisoft problem for them to solve. Contact them through Ubisoft support, respectfully point out that they have officially and publically committed to supply this material and request instructions on how you can receive it.
That sucks, picked my copy up just got home grabbed the patch and saw this post, opend up my package and Nada, paid $62.00 for disk and manual,ah well at least I can play the game,:D
I will contact them tomorrow morning.:stare: I don't see why Canadians should not be getting the promised materials, and I don't see how it could be EB Games or Futureshop's mistake (unless they opened and resealed each game, stealing the materials in the process, which I would regard as highly unlikely).
I too paid $62.00 for the game, but I expected bonus materials and still do.

Well the one I got was shrink-wrapped, so I'm pretty sure it was the real deal direct from Ubisoft.
Frustrating, but fixable.

I just picked up the game tonight and to my surprise when i opened it, no map. very sad, especially since i traded in 2 games to go towards sh4 and all i get is manual and disc. Paying that much to get kicked in the balls would be more satisfying.
I encourage more Canadians here to not let this go - contact Ubisoft and try to get to the bottom of this. Be courteous, but make sure you get a real answer and not a bureaucratic excuse like "Yes, we did make, assemble, package and distribute the product but it is still the fault of the seller." They didn't include all the materials, which means they either screwed up badly and sold us a product with significantly less physical components which were explicitly said to be included and which we expected and paid for, or they lied and hoped we wouldn't question them. Either that or the limited time for the bonus materials was less than a day.
Same here chaps picked mine up at EB Games in Ottawa. Disk plus manual only the case it came in sure looked like it hold a map plus keyboard layout it was big enough. Disappointed.
Also further disappointed with the mission editor not impressed at all.
Well, the issue with the mission editor is one of opinion - the bonus materials though is another issue.:nope: Not that I'm saying you're wrong about the editor - I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know what it is like. Right now, I am most concerned about what happened to our promised materials though.:nope:

I was going to go out tonight and pick up a copy at the local BB or FS (Both right beside each other). Now I think I will wait a week or so and see how all of this confusion by UBI sorts itself out.:damn:
Oh well, back to the atlantic for now...
Most of these complaints seem to originate from copies bought at EB Games.:-? Someone mentioned Futureshop as well. Does anyone have any info on any other retailer in Canada?
And does anyone know of any way I can take this damn game back after it's been opened? I thought I heard once that if one disagreed with the license terms, the retailer would have no choice but to refund - probably not true though. I doing first year law right now, but I don't not enough about contract law to know if this is a breach of contract, but I don't think it would be. I do feel cheated and want either the materials or a refund though - the more I think about it, the worse I feel.

Check out the fine print on the back at the bottom.
"Made in Canada/Fabrique aux Canada"
First time I've had a game made in Canada, we usually get the trusted American versions! It's just one thing after another with these idiots at UBI when it comes to SH4 it seems.

Are people on the west coast getting the half-Quebecois silliness too? Seriously, keep the watered down french crap in Quebec!

I was gonna pick up my copy from the EB here in Ottawa tommorow, but I may reconsider now and try Best Buy instead... though I doubt it will make a difference, it seems like all the copies produced in Canada do not have the extra material...

Deadeye acquitted us quite well. Militarily Canada has been and still is quite remarkable given our small size. Bother the French and Brits tried to take Vimy Ridge (at the time the most heavily defended point on the Western fron) but only the Candadians could do it, the first time, AND with incredibly few losses by WW1 standards. WW2 we were all over that Navy business and we trained like 3/4 of the Allied air force (including tons of Americans). We had splendid land soldiers too. Much of Caen was bought with Canadian blood. I could go on and be verbose or just take a swipe at the US for not joining the war sooner (classic Canadian retort) but instead I'll just be proud of my nation and leave it at that.
I think that we in Canada repeatedly get the raw deal economically. Hell has anyone checked the exchange rate lately? The Canadian Dollar is worth around 85 cents American. So why is everything nearly twice as much as it is in the US? Free Trade is a joke. Its more like Free Trade for the US if they feel like it. Hell Mexico has a better NAFTA agreement than we do. Thank you very much Mr. Mulroney.
BAH! I guess I'll be buying this baby online probably.... eventually.:hmm:
EDIT. Oh yea and remember 1812? We so kicked America'a ass (technically the Brits did cause we were still a colony but still).

I too would like to voice my anger at this, as I was really looking forward to the bonus material. It was going to be the real highlight of the purchase for me, and I was looking forward to some good bathroom reading.
And what do we get? A really ****ty manual, that doesn't even tell you what the difference between submarines is. As someone who isn't particularly well versed in american submarine knowledge, I find it rediculous that I'm just picking a sub at random. To make things worse, the "Museum" aspect doesn't help fill that gap at all.
Truly very frustrating.

I'm willing to bet the retailers and makers defense will be that Ottawa made them do it. The requirement for dual lauguage meant everything would have to be in both French & English, and it was not practical for the cost to create all the materials in both languages.

An' they failed to deliver.:dead:
I was waiting for the game since August, I really want to get it now, but seeing this, it might make me wait a few days to order it online instead...
Then again, I want to play it TOMMOROW, I guess I'll just buy it and bug Ubi about it.
heh I am british, it was joke
HAHAHAHA. Maybe you ought to make that clear on your info sheet.:)
And I was joking too (like that nod to the brits over 1812).
But even if you're British... NAH NAH NAH! You couldn't take VIMY! Okay, last one. ;)
Well it isn't entirely un-political. In fact everythings political. Most politics are about economics and selling games is just another exercise is the economic process. And when Canada gets screwed for no apparent reason you gotta wonder why. So close to the US but with such drastic differences in so many things... something is up. That and we love to b1tch.
But this whole Canada thing is just another chapter in this fiasco of a release.
I'm willing to bet the retailers and makers defense will be that Ottawa made them do it. The requirement for dual lauguage meant everything would have to be in both French & English, and it was not practical for the cost to create all the materials in both languages.
Yes, I imagine that is what they'll probably say, although the few games I have bought over the last few years didn't include a part French language manual. Maybe some new legislation I am forgetting at the moment?
Anyway, that is not the worst problem of course - the worst problem is that Canadians are not getting the promised bonus materials, which are available to Americans even as we speak.
I've just sent an e-mail to Ubisoft, and I encourage others to do the same. I will also call them if I do not get a response. Here is the contact info for Canadians - I encourage others to not let this go:

Relax. The bonus is utter junk. You get a sewon-badge. Yippie. You get a sound track disc. As if you aren't going to be listening to it quite enough in-game. You get a completely useless recognition manual, where the retards decided to print useless 3d-renderings of the ships, making the manual hardly worth the paper printed on.
Just get the vanilla version.

I just wanted to see the DVD assuming it was a documentary on the making of the game and the WWII history of the period.
When I pre-ordered at EB they ONLY had the plain version, no option to buy the "collectable" version. (they will with console games though)
I have had this before, like when Company of Heroes came out WITH a t-shirt...unless you are in Canada. So this has happened before.
Oh well, I really like the game but I need a card with all the button mapping on it like in SH3...that was in color too!!!
Cheers everyone.

Just purchased the game a few hours ago at Best Buy here in Ottawa, and as expected, no bonus material. Will send a respectful email to Ubisoft, but all in all I'm just glad I have the game.:)
By the way, if one wanted to send an e-mail to Ubisoft concerning this, which e-mail address should be used? The Webmaster one?

I'm in Canada as well. I have a few rules for myself to live by like anyone..a few are never deal with EB Games, don't shop from Walmart or buy Sony or EA :) Another is don't buy PC games until at LEAST 6 months after they are on the shelf.
But I broke that rule today just for this game..and was burned like the old days.
Massive amount of bugs. I don't like the music. I can't hear the crews voices, they all seem distant. The sound is not as good either, in SH3 everything was clear and loud, this game I zoom close to a ships props and hardly hear anything. I don't like the looks of the game, it looks cartoony and blurry. Ubisoft plain out lied about the resolution, looks horrid on my 26" display. I liked SH3 much better, got it for $19.99 a year ago.
Plus what a great package, box, DVD and crappy black and white half baked manual.
At least this time they remebered the CD Key, when I bought SH3 it did not have one. It was a Canada wide problem..they ever fix that? Had to get the install Key for ubi-tech forums.
Oh, is this silent Hunter 4? Looks like just an exp pack to SH3..does not even say 4 on the box.

http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s171/Grobschnitt/?action=view¤t=DSC01546.jpg
Meh..
Also..
Why even go to the Bridge or Command Deck any internal deck room now..there are even less of them now than the last game! All the functions are gone! I can't click on my men anymore to give them orders, I can't click on the periscope or any stations or devices or maps to use them..on the bridge the mag glasses on deck are no longer useful, nothing works up there. They took the immersiveness that made the last game so great away..
I use to think it would be sooo cool that if in SH4 you could walk though your entire sub, and around the outside. But no they make it even worse than the last game!
it's a good thing they did not put SH4 on the Canadian version of the box, because it's just an exp pack..that does not expand really..it takes just as much as it gives. SH 2.5 beta
$$$ back please..
John Channing
03-23-07, 07:35 PM
Another interesting thing is the back of the box has the "Periscope Films" logo on it.
Clearly the intention was to put the DVD in with the game, but then they changed their minds.
Oh well, they are looking into it.

another bug..
i guess the reason we can't click on the men to give tham orders anymore is because they are ghosts! I can see right though them on the bridge.
Bah..totally disappointed, i feel ripped off.
From what I've seen of the game so far (I can't play it myself yet), I am actually quite happy with the digital game content. However, I am easy to please in that regard. I am just disappointed over the lack of physical bonus materials - if Ubisoft fixes that, then I will be satisfied. But I still haven't heard back from Ubisoft support yet.

one consolation is that for those with SHIII the keyboard map is virtually the same so you can use it for SHIV. But I still want what was promised to me when I prepayed a month ago for the game, which ticks me off because i could have just waited and popped down to the US and grabbed it.

Yes, I noticed this yesterday when I picked up my copy.
Now here is the strange thing.
Every retailer I talked to had the same copy. EBGames, Futureshop and Bestbuy. So it's not as if the retailers didn't order any other copies(I talked to a few in charge of ordereing and they only had one to order. on their list)
I went to Futureshop the day of relelase and they hadn't got ANY copies, nor was it "on transit" meaning they weren't sure when they would receive a copy.
EBGames, had several copies. And Betbuy had it, but it was still in the back room, waiting to be unpacked...Three days later.
My only guess was the week dealy in the game created some confusion amongst the packing company. I did however see in the the SHIV folder were some JPG's of the quick review chart, and keyboard controls.
Thus I have printed those copies and use them until Ubisoft can sort out this discrepancy.
As previously stated in another post, all versions were to be the edition with the Ship Reference chart, quick review pull-out, the map of the Pacific and the Documentary DVD. It's not until AFTER those are sold out that the regular edition will be available.

hmm, if nothing gets done its a prime case for a lawsuit for false advertising.
A little too costly.
But Consumer and Coporate Affairs knows exactly what to do in these matters. And the fines can be very large!
BUT...
lets all keep a cool head and give them a fair chance to make this right.

Personally I dont think UBI Canada Values zip. Maybe we should contact CBC and have them interview UBI Canada at the st laurent HQ in Ottawa Canada. Oh they maybe at the Biftek near pinecrest brainstorming with Parliment how much more can we get out of the locals on top of the gst and pst.:)
LOL "the Biftek near pinecrest"
I think its actually spelled "Le Bifthèque"!
Their marketing is pretty funny, having two life-sized statues of cows in front...
Biftek or Bifthèque doesn't matter.... What matters is I know and you know where it is.:)
I see you must frequent the 2 cows place. Good show....next time there Flick sends his best reagrds to Charles.
Bump.
Still haven't heard back from Ubisoft. I imagine it will take some time for them to complete their internal investigation though.

There's some merit in the complaints going on in this thread although I doubt NAFTA is the problem. It probably boils down to simple economics. Here in Calgary (population 1,000,000) SH IV still is not even on the shelves at all and the stores act like they never heard of it although they all have UBI accounts. One guy who checked on his computer informed me "Maybe in May or June - or never". I ordered my deluxe limited edition straight from UBI.com and it arrived at my door 4 days later by Fedex from France, March 21 . You can't beat that. It's got everything. You are right - that clip inside the DVD cover should contain a map, manual and quick-ref card. Mine does. (BTW, the deluxe edition is very nice and worth the extra $ to me.) I gave up long ago on many Canadian suppliers and their agents.
A couple of years ago I was looking for a new laptop PC and wanted a hi-end VAIO. I soon discovered Sony markets only the low end of its product line in Canada. Ditto for HP and some others. If you buy a top Sony in the US and bring it home they will not honor the warranty (HP does). A Sony rep in Toronto advised me Canada may be geographically big but the tiny population and economy make us a "secondary market" (he did not say "nuisance market" but you could tell). He claimed the EU, Britain, parts of Asia and the US get all the best stuff soonest because that's where the customers are. Canada has an economy about the size of Holland's and is just not that important. Furthermore, he offered the opinion Canadians are "cheap" and tend not to buy more expensive products so it is not worth Sony's time and effort to provide support for a few dozen "swish" units that might sell. They market what leaves the shelves in volume and that's that. Many other companies do the same (just go into a Radio Shack, Best Buy or Wal-Mart in the US and compare to the pathetic stripped down outlets we have here). The problem is compounded by the Canadian tradition of treating visitors to stores more like intruders than customers although this is improving.
Aside from all that, which is really anecdotal anyway, I believe UBI cares about its customers wherever they may be and wonder if it is possible some shipments were simply incomplete owing to packaging error(??). It doesn't make sense to leave out maps and manuals intentionally. What would they do with them?

Hey, shipmates, my pre-order just arrived today from Ubi, and in the box, I recieved the game, a poster-sized map of the Pacific, a ship recogition poster, keystroke card, and the manual.
Not sure if everyone was looking for more than that, but that's what Ubi sent me directly.
Definitely not big news by any means, but I wanted to throw it in here.

Have taken a look through the manual and notice nothing that's au Francais. Didn't realise it at the time, but the bonus DVD video was there as well. It looks like it was just a matter of ordering from Ubi directly instead of the nefarious middleman (sorry, but how often do ya get to use the word "nefarious").
The UbiStore that I ordered from was the link after clicking the Pre-Order link at silenthunter4.us.ubi.com, so I think the link Soviet Warlord put up was the one. This was back on the 1st of February.
I'm not trying to rub it in or anything, and I feel for ya, my fellow pale-skinned, frostbitten brethren of the North. I do hope that everyone can be satisfied at some point. :)
Although I understand that the problem is really the principle of the matter, the only thing that's really a "bonus" out of the material is the second disk with the period documentaries.

I have been investigating the issue. here is what I found in a nice Q&A format:
1. What? I can't find the Limited Time Edition with the premium packaging, large manual, fold out map and recognition manual, quick reference card, and documentary DVD in any of my local Canadian retail stores!
Yes that is correct. Unfortunately, the Limited Time Edition is NOT available in Canadian retail stores.
2. So what about that information that you posted in this thread earlier?
At the time I had posted this information, I was told that it was all true. Unfortunately, I've found out now that was not the case. I apologize for sharing this incorrect information, but that is what I was told at the time.
3. So what is in the packaging in the Canadian retail stores?
From what I've been told, this package only contains the game disk, and English and French Canadian manuals.
4. So if I live in Canada, where can I purchase the limited time edition?
Canadians who want to purchase the Limited Time Edition may purchase it in the US Ubi Store (http://store.ubi.com/item.jsp?item=68343).
5. Bonus material is listed right on the box of the package I bought, but it was not actually inside the packaging! What's going on?
If bonus material is listed on the box (but was not in the package), then the retailer received the US version and is responsible for providing a complete copy of the game, not Ubisoft.
6. I'm very angry about this whole issue! Where can I voice my anger about this?
I completely understand that you would be very angry and frustrated if you were in this situation. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything further to help. Please go to Ubisoft Customer Support (http://support.ubi.com/) as that is the best place to let your voices be heard on this matter.
Once again, I apologize for this misinformation and any frustration this has caused. When I posted this information, I was told that it was true. If you have any further questions, please relate that to Ubisoft Customer Support. Thank you.

Here's my thread to respond to that:
First of all, i will try to stay calm because right now, all i wanna do is, open a window and throw that computer out of my home!!!!!
I'm real sick and tired to get laugh at by games software companies!!!
What's your problem Ubisoft???? Canadians doesn't spend enough money into your enterprise??? We don't deserve the proper edition??? All we deserve is a piece of **** like you shipped to us!!! The game and a manuel in black and white!!! Come on!!! Are we that stupid, is that what you think of us???
Seriously, you promised something and later, you're changing your mind. AudibleKnight as been design to be the one who will take the blame but me, i'm not buying this!!!
M.Guillemot, you better go take some marketing course because right now, you failed the exam with a big F!!!!
MY MONEY IS GOOD AS THE OTHER COUNTRIES AND I DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!
I had my deception when i saw the UK Special Edition and what it was costing for a Canadian resident to get it... around 200$?!?!?!
But this, it's the cherry on the sundae. This is an absolute insult to us and i will not forget what you have decided for us!!!
For me, i will not buy anymore Ubisoft games till this issue as been solved and you can be assure that as soon that my SH4 is arriving, i will returning it for a complete refund.
Shame on you Ubisoft!!!! You want to threat the canadian like this well, i don't see why i would buy the stuff from a company who that we only deserve a DVD of the game and a manuel in black and white while the standard UK SH4 have the good manuel and the keycard.
I encourage others Canadians to let know Ubisoft that we are not happy about this.

What a load of crap from UBI.
And they thought their sales in Canada were piss poor before... Next time they roll a product out on us, we won't forget SH4.
I wish more than anything else in the world right now that I had not bought this game - the only reason I bought it at full price was to get the bonus materials. Otherwise, I would have waited for the price to drop. But it will be the last time I ever buy a Ubisoft game, and I won't be modding for SHIV (not that Ubisoft cares about that anyway).
This is just too great a spit in the face to ignore, and it seems that every other country in the world except Canada is getting something extra (even forgetting the DVD, we apparently aren't worth printing a map on a piece of paper which would probably be smaller than some of their promotional posters and signs). And Ubisoft waited until a substantial portion of SH gamers bought the game before even bothering to tell us. I feel completely sick - I can't believe I let myself be cheated like that. I know I'm stuck with the piece of sh*t of a game now since it has been 5 days and it is opened, but if there is any way I can bring the *******ing thing back on a technicality of some kind would someone kindly let me know?
You can all let this thread die now, we've got our answer from Ubisoft. I will send a complaint though, not that it will do any good at all.

I jest. You were one of the lucker Candadians it seems.
one consolation is that for those with SHIII the keyboard map is virtually the same so you can use it for SHIV.
I read in another forum that you can use a certain keyboard mod, that will revert your current SH 4 keyboard layout, back to the exact same mappings of SH3. I believe it was posted by a UBI moderator in the official SH4 forums.

The keyboard layout is on the sh4 cd as a pdf file as it is on sh3. I just printed it out, ok for folks that have a color printer. However the black lettering on the keys is not very clear. Majority of the commands are identical to sh3 and I might go blind if I have to rely on the printed kb layout.

Not that you asked me, but one of the reasons is the language laws in Canada stipulate that packaging has to be in both English and French, which can cause headaches for non-Canadian producers.
Not applicable at all in this case as Ubisoft has a large manufacturing concern (subsidised by the taxpayers) in the province of Quebec. This is where the editions we are receiving are coming from and, I suspect, the source of the problem.

We've been working very hard to try and fix this situation of the Canadian packaging of Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific, and how it did not contain the bonus material that was announced here in the forums and online. We will for a limited time, provide the bonus materials to those who purchased a Canadian version of the game before 3/26/07 (when the update of information was made). Below are more details:
Please contact our support team either by:
The "Ask a Question" feature in the FAQs section at http://support.ubi.com
By phone at 919-460-9778
You will be informed that you are required to provide a photocopy of the cover of the game as well as a photocopy of your purchase receipt. They will then give you an address to send these materials to claim your bonus materials. After it has been received and verified, you will be sent the expanded manual, quick reference card, ship recognition poster, map and bonus documentary DVD.
Other things to take note of are that supplies are limited, and so we may not be able to fulfill all requests. Also, please be patient after mailing the photocopies of your game cover and receipt as it takes time for the materials to be sent there, for requests to be processed, and for everything to be sent out.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try our best to correct this situation.
Thats  as long as the Knight is not singing a tune I heard years ago called "The Hokie Pokie"

I still do not consider this to be an adequate solution, for two reasons:
1) The stocks of bonus materials are "limited". Not cool.
2) Any Canadian who didn't grab a copy quickly (or jump on the new-release bandwagon) now is left out in the cold, since this only applies to purchases before the 26th.
Even though I already have a copy, any new person who wants the bonus materials in Canada will be forced to order from the UBI store and pay extra for shipping. Not cool.
Faxed mine off just now 1-919-468-3305.
I would like to thank the people responsible for getting this information.
And another big thanks if I ever get it delivered.
I agree this is very bad for their PR. I feel bad for the ones purchasing after the 26th.

willl i have to pay for shipping costs/extra fees?? Given the confusion was created by Ubi itself and not the customer, and the fact they didn't request payment up front -- I'd say Ubi is most likely eating the cost on shipment.

so since they didnt respond does this mean they are shipping bonus materials??
Apparently, if they don't respond (or if they just hold your online submission of materials), your request has been approved and you just wait in line (in the order they received your request) until they get the materials. A representative on the tech support line told me something like that - I don't remember exactly what. It looks like my request has been approved though - the representative checked out my incident number while I was on the phone and said it was approved. It's just a matter of how many copies of the bonus material they end up getting for destribution, I guess.:-? He mentioned how limited their supply was several times during the conversation, but didn't have any idea how many copies there were originally, or how many were left at that time.

If they haven't responded, I'd definitely get back in touch with them again. Get a confirmation that they have received what they require from you and they will in fact ship the bonus material to you. Oh, and while you have their attention, that may be a good time to enquire about any shipping fees.
Good luck.

I just avoided the entire mess with the CDN version, and ordered it from the UBI store (US). I have the Download version right now, the DVD copy will be my backup:D
It is sad that there is different packaging for the two markets though:arrgh!:
I suspect it has to do with the CDN requirements for our other official language:nope:
To bad UBI (who have a studio in Canada) can not figure this all out before they release a product.
Good luck to all of you waiting for your missing content, I hope UBI comes through.

To be totally honest, I bought the download version which includes the bonus collectors material as jpegs... from what I have spoken to other Canadian purchasers and comparitively we arent missing much...
...however, its the principle of the matter, its not fair to be excluded from something that every one else gets.
Rock on, I hope that they do make it right.

well now the status has been updated to "holding" what does this mean? will i get bonus stuff??
Apparently, it means your proof has been approved, but you have been placed in line in the order your request was received. Those further up in this line will be the first to receive materials; the assignment of materials will stop when there are no more left.:-? And apparently, there are very few bonus materials and a lot more requests than Ubisoft expected.:-? At least that's what I've been told.
BTW, My request is on "holding" status as well.:shifty:

My request is also "holding". We'll all see how this turns out...
I just got a message from Ubisoft saying that I am still in the line, and when the bonus materials arrive, they will be shipped out to those who are waiting. The only thing I miss is the map that we did not get. Too bad they couldn't give us a map mod to add to our navigation map and are able to drag down (Like in SH3). If I could get that I would be happy.

OK now it says its "solved" this mean they shipped extra goodies or they ran out??
I noticed this today too... and asked myself the very same question.
Hope it means that they shipped the items to us... Patience.
Mine has been changed to "solved" as well. I hope that means the materials have shipped; if anyone has confirmation of this, could they post and let the rest of us know?
Mine has also been changed to Solved. :)

Solved here too!
Virtual cookie donated to whoever gets their bonus materials first :p
But is there any confirmation that the 'solved' status messages mean that the materials have been shipped? Other people reported getting a specific message saying that they would actually be getting the materials - maybe 'solved' simply means there are no copies left for us, and Ubisoft is hoping to quietly close the issue without us noticing. It could also be an automatic closure of our threads, due to a lack of response on our part over a couple of days (although I don't think this should happen if the threads were "holding."). Has anyone heard anything specific from Ubisoft?:-?
Arrowhead2k1

Mine says 'solved' too. One can only assume that everything is A-okay and that we should be expecting our bonus material.
@ Arrowhead2k1 - I hope you're right, and you probably are. But if anyone here feels like sending Ubisoft a polite e-mail asking for clarification....:hmm:
Since no one else appears to have done so, I have sent Ubisoft another e-mail asking for clarification in regards to the "solved" status that has been given to several of us in their forum. I'm guessing Ubisoft is going to use Canada Post, in which case they'll probably put it into your mailbox since it's the cheapest option, I think. If they use another option, then they'll probably either leave it on your doorstep or put a tag on your door telling you when & where you can pick it up.

With Canada Post, if it's too big, then a) you'll get a notice to pick it up at your local post office. Or b) you'll find a key with instructions to open a larger box nearby if this service is availiable in your area. (That's what they do on my street).
But, a DVD and a small book/papers? I'd be surprised if it's too big at all.

To anyone who is interested, Ubisoft still has bonus material available. I finally got around to following the above procedure 10 days ago. I had bought my copy march 26th. The only thing Ubi asked me for was my address and yesterday, I received a full US english version with all the bonus materials, but minus the game DVD, by mail.
The bonus material is mostly fluff, but it is an improvement over the barebones bilingual canadian edition.

So, I've been playing the game off and on for a bit. Unfortunately off mostly since applying 1.3. too many CTDs in a single patrol. So I'm spinning back up SHIII GWX.
However, in reading some of the forums it seems that the copy I bought at Future Shop with nothing but a DVD and a useless Eng/French manual was supposed to have more in it. I also now find out that the "availability date" for calling UBI for this has passed.
So has some enterprising young soul turned any of the extras into pdf yet?

just got off the phone with them. IF i send them a check or money order for an additional $5 then they'll send me the reference card and map. NO 100 pg manual.
The 40pg manual I got with the game doesn't even tell you how to get rid of dead sailors. The pdf on the DVD is the same manual in pdf. USELESS!
Combine all that with the fact that since 1.3 the game crashes to desktop so often it's basically unplayable, and I'm not sure what to do.
I think I'll boot back up SH3 GSX.. which also sucks because I wanted to be the good guys for a change.

Is there a downloadable version of the SHIV map anywhere? I'm one of the many canadians who did'nt get the bonus material. I found a site on these forums that had a couple sections, but I'd like to get the whole thing. I love using the SHIII map when playing that game.

I wasn't aware of the extra material. Granted, the manual is pretty minimal. Ignorance is bliss.

Ah, thanks RDP. I extracted the 2 maps from the DDS files of that mod.
