The test depth from the readme is 246 feet roughly. They could go deeper than their test depths, but how much deeper? Hopefully it's a bit random.

Yeah, I understand that. 250 according to the readme was what the boat was tested for, how much deeper it could actually go? Well you seemed to have found out for your particular sub, to about 450.

That sounds about right.
I think estimates were that crush depth was around twice that of test depth.

humm i took a salmon to 80 metres ( i havent patched yet you have to love capped downloads at peak times) at about 80 i got some leaks onboard, but no reports.
i took her to 85 and still had some leaks, no damage reported though, i went to 81 then dropped to 200 in a tenth of a second and died, no way out.
i prefered how in SHIII you could push it but it was very clear when things were going wrong ( flooding etc loud noise) in this one if you go a milimetre over what the game decides is crush depth you die with no warning, and its the lack of warning i find a shame.
going below test depth by more than 5 metres is suicide. there was nothing as exciting as hitting the deck in SHIII ( after sailing into a flippin mine) and fighting so hard to get flooding under controll, and the engines and pumps all working again, and that amazing releif when you finally got on the surface.
in this its either safe depth or dead. wich does take away some of the real life threatening moments for me.

9th_cow: Yeah get that patch installed as now i seem to get quite a bit of warning from crew about flooding compartments and water spraying out around the bridge in places, although having a sound model around all that would really help out as well, especially if there are allot of other things going on at the time. Something i think is to bad though is that once you have gone just 10ft to far theres no comming back not even blowing the ballest helps....but perhaps thats just the way it really was. :o
