View Full Version : I am sick
This is the third virus I have picked up from people who just don't get it. Got a bug stay at home and stopping spreading it around, the first was a cold in January then hot on it's heels a rotten virus causing coughing fits. And now I got a head cold and I have had it up to here with these filthy swine coughing and sneezing all over the place spreading there stinking conditions everywhere.
The worth offenders are the ones who think they are hero's for turning up for work and spreading there germs all over the place which results in people going off sick.

I have also been sick several times this year.
I hate those folks who come in when they are sick also. At my work we get tons of sick and vacation days so there is no reaon to come in when you are sick.

I told you to wash your hands many times a day! When are you going to listen?
Trust me though, I've survived virus plagued offices this year using this simple tactic. I think I've completely avoided the minefield this way.

My hands are so clean you could eat your dinner off my hands. :know:

Anyway, no, no prostate exam. I don't like to finger guys, if you know what I mean...
It seems you have a high blood pressure level in your head. Take some cough syrup, lie down, and drink a caffene free lemon-lime soda. Let it take it's course. Just be sure to prop your computer on your lap so you can still talk! Oh, and don't try to throw-up/puke. Trust me.
Are the on line doctor is in the house.

To everyone who noticed and took my advice, notice that it says "Unoffcial Doctor"
That means you can't sue me!:p
And that's why your free and you don't charge for your advice. ;)

Possibly. Please note that I use reliable sources made from doctors themselves. Very technical, and I'm sure some/most of you would not even understand it. I prefer to help any Subsim member at any means possible.
So....
Anthrax? Bird Flu? Malignant Neoplasms of the Small Intestine?()
I'll help you from pure kindness that I give to the members here, as well as the desire to cure people's illnesses.

I am guessing on Legionnaires' disease. :yep:
But I think that it's very possible that STEED has been exposed to a Islamistic Antrax attack.

Or maybe it's me? :hmm:
STEED,
Coughs and sneezes spread diseases, so be a jobsworth and earn the admiration of your colleagues by making sure there's a little for everyone to go round. I had 4 days off recently due to the old cold and flu thing going round the office. Bleargh, made me feel like ****. I could have gone back after 3 days but also took the friday too; I still felt rough but not that rough I couldn't have worked if it was an emergency or something. However I don't feel valued as an employee so I thought I'd better give my cold the benefit of the doubt and stay home one more day. Besides no one would have thanked me as resident plague carrier for the day.
After all, the company will carry on without me for a few days. A bit longer and I don't know, there may have been a problem; but these guys have gotta learn to think for themselves, you know? :rotfl::oops:

Two little ones down with pneumonia, no less, and I'm coughing away. One big one flat on his back. Big pile of pills and inhalents from the pharmacy.
Endless tea-making.
I am still here and fighting this bug. No point seeing my G.P. it takes nearly three weeks to get appointment and has anyone tried getting them out at night, it's a joke. My old mum had the coughing virus worst than me and she's a pensioner (No I did not pass my one on) anyway real bad it took four days before a doctor came out. Now I know why, on the news last week this issue was news and a lot of General Practitioners have opted out being called out at night, incredible.
The way are N.H.S is going you go in to hospital welcomed my some witch doctor who will sprinkle herbs over you and say your cured. :o

I feel your pain Steed
However not everyone can pull a sicky when they want
3 sickies in a 12 month period at Royal Mail and you're on a warning
another within 6 months and its stage 2
Then its a year and a half without taking any sick time or stage 3 and consideration for dismissal
Not so easy just to go sick in those confines
so you have to struggle in and pass it on
Having said that at least in my locale I can see my GP the next day if not the same day if ring in early
The out of hours cover isnt that great though
Oh and you used to be able to ring in and take an annual day if you felt rough and had no sick time but thats gone to 24hr notice so you still have to go in
And then you can only take an annual if your section is below a percentage off already
Otherwise your boned
:rotfl:
Get well soon
bigboywooly, I know the feeling
One of my pass jobs my boss insisted you see the doctor even if it was the common cold, what a wast of time as the Doc has more important folks to see. And the worst thing was they checked up on you!!! What is this Stalins Russia.

Any rumours of my death hold no water, yes you heard me right. The state funeral is cancelled. I just had the worst weekend of my life and I am still down but not out, had a funny dream I was playing chess with the grim reaper who was dribbling a basketball and speaking in a laid back Jamaican accent, he also told me Tony Blair was a fairy and the world was not as nice as it was hundreds of years ago.
Please don't ask me to explain the dream as I am as :-? as you are.
Once again I am not dead. :p
Hey Steed, try taking 250mg Vit C every couple hours. I'd also suggest taking a regimen of zinc citrate or gluconate according to directions. The latter is helpful with respect to production of macrophages. These little critters help with lung congestion. Mind not to taking too much zinc of for more than a few days, as you'll end up with initially more chest congestion than you started with. But its the good kind of congestion.
Supplement the mega-dose of Vit C with some high-B complex every other day or so. Also, ensure that you're hydrating youself sufficiently that you pee at least two quarts a day. One should be peeing at least a quart per day even if one isn't on a regemin of Vit C.
Depending how sick one is, they can tolerate as much as 250mg Vit C every hour. Depending how you feel will dictate how often (not how much) to take. The first clue that one is taking too much Vit C is a loose stool. Just start missing doses. If you're really sick, you'll notice right away when its time to take some more: you'll feel like you're relapsing. If you've been mega-dosing on Vit C, you don't want to just go cold turkey on it (as you will relapse, and depending on how nasty the bug is, relapse big time is definitely possible).
If you have been taking Vit C, and just can't seem to shake the bug, then you are either not taking enough Vit C, or check the expiry date? Chances are its old. One year I just couldn't shake this bug, and I was chowing the Vit C like candy. Then I noticed the expiry date was three years ago. I threw 500 pills away and ran out an bought a bottle of 50 pills and immediately after taking the first tablet the most wonderfull feeling of warmth came over me. I was right as rain within two days afterwards. I never buy more than what I'll use in a single season anymore, and throw out whatever open bottle I have at the end of fall.
Never take more than 250mg at a time. Any old C should do, but if it has boiflavanoids or rose hips in it you'll absorb it better.
Wash your hands after touching any type of community thing anywhere. Don't throw snot rags into the wastebasket, but into the toilette. When the snot dries out the virus goes airborn. Get a box of those handy-dan hand-wipe towels. Use 'em after returning to your car from the store, bank, after touching any community thing, etc.
Soak your teethbrush in a solution of bleach (1 tsp/8oz glass). Rinse well before using.
Spray aeorosol disinfectant around frequently until nobody's sick at home any more.
All of this is especially important a home, in that illness can be passed around the merry go round from one family member to another for weeks and weeks on end. The virus mutates while one person is infected, and gets passed to another, and can sufficiently mutates that the initial person gets sick again with essentially a brand new virus.
