1. no crew interaction---:-?
2.no radio room--------:-?
3. no cpt quaters------:nope:
4.some crew are stiff as boards--:rotfl:
5.sound issues----:stare:
6.gameplay issues--
7.same sounds as sh3---
8 grapics arent that much better than sh3 to be worth 50$---:hmm:
what the hell? this GAME ((that is what it is)) should be severly sticken from being called a simulator I see NO IMPROVMENT FROM SH3 in fact just the oppisite.
there is 1 possiblity using sh4 to better sh3 and thats about it

Well, I've played SHIII pretty extensively, and I can honestly say that (for me at least) SHIV has plenty of immersion too. I'm playing with the 1.1 patch and during my second patrol I ran in to a Japanese Task Force containing two fleet carriers (Shokaku and Hiryu class I think) and numerous escort carriers. I happened to be in their path, and after jinking and weaving a bit, I managed to get my boat in position for a shot at the two carriers. Full 10 torpedo salvo, 8 hits, two crippled carriers and one happy virtual submarine skipper. I got plastered by the escorts but managed to stay alive and finish of the carriers right under the destroyers' noses. I constantly got sonar reports from my sonar man, depth readings were called out in hushed voices etc. I almost got more immersion than I bargained for when I surfaced a bit prematurely, but I managed to slip away with minimal damage. It's not a perfect game by any means, but neither is SHIII. :D

Well, I'm hopeful that the sound issues can be easily modded.

So, do you have it or are you going on what others have said?

It looks to me like once again you felt that way from before the beginning and were just waiting your chance to say so. So, have fun with SH3 (I know I still will) and stop venting until you actually have something to say!

And don't forget that SH3 was also born with a lot of issues.

I thought that you stated that you would not be buying this game. Why the rant? It seems to me that you could find a more productive outlet for your free time than to spit vitriol at a simulation that you have no intent of playing.

Come on: Sensible posts, people.

1. Dont really miss it. In SH3 I always used the quick bar to issue commands.
2. How many times was the radio room actually important. At least in SH4 you get constant updates of the war such as Borneo getting invaded. Its IMHO more immersive than SH3.
3. What did the capts. quarter do for gameplay? Great, I can sit here immovable and watch the radio guy listen in his headphones. How long does that last?
4. Seems about the same as SH3.
5. Not had any sound issues yet. Crew doesnt sound off like I'd like but sounds are easily moddable.
6. SH3 had/has gameplay issues too. I've yet to play a game that doesnt have "issues". Thats pretty broad anyway.
7. Yeah, agree.
8. Um, it is better looking than SH3 but I didnt buy the game for graphical updates.
