That is right. I admit it. I have done 5 patrols and survived 2. Because I get greedy. Here are my 3 colossal screw ups :)

1st Patrol: Went out of Phillipines.... picked off 2 lone medium merchants....found a task force and killed 2 DDs and 3 troop ships... after a few hours of cat and mouse with the remaining warships I was home free... one torp left....found a sonar contact and decided "what the hell.. lets check it out" I was close to port. Long story short.. splashes. All hands lost

2nd Patrol: Pearl Harbor this time.... Take pictures of some boats at Osaka.... stop at midway for fuel... make it into Osaka with a bit less than 1/2 fuel. One lone gunship protecting all those juicy...and better yet.. STATIONARY targets... take my pictures undercover of night and complete the mission. So head home to refuel and refit and get out of this dangerous area? Or go ahead and take out 40-50k worth of tonnage first with some of the easiest solutions I will ever get? Another long story short.. sometimes very large battle groups come into that port... and night had become day after I had sank the 5th tanker... out of fish... out of fuel.. and out of luck.

3rd Patrol: Damn tubes taking forever to reload... well the 4 merch are at the bottom of the ocean... it is really really dark..the DD is smoking so maybe I can get a couple long range shots with the deckgun and get lucky... and ... got him... oh look a new contact... oh crap its ontop of me... crash dive...should have checked the depth under keel..bulkheads leaking..splashes... I am stuck on the bottom.... shells exploding around me....and we are out of air.

Oh yes. The Pacific is definitely not the the Atlantic. You best be careful where you choose to be reckless. For all the difficulty that the Brits and Yanks had with U-boats in the Atlantic if they'd just had a few extra calderas then maybe it would have been easier.:rotfl:
