Hoping someone can help me out. I've now tried to install SH3 with the GWX mod three times. I install SH3 and then patch it to 1.4b. I then make sure it's running fine (using a no-dvd patch) which it does. I then install the GWX mod and 1.02 patch. When I go to launch the game I get the GWX load screen and then it crashes. When I clicked the details tab this is at the top.
AppName: sh3.exe AppVer: 1.4.0.1 ModName: ac3filter.ax
ModVer: 1.0.1.0 Offset: 0005bd60
Anyone else have this problem? I've got plenty of horsepower and have not had any problems with any of the other mods GW1.1 or NYGM.
thanks in advance!

Hi chowderhead62 and welcome aboard
Check the 'my Documents' and make sure you don't have the NYGM or GW 1.1 sh3 folder 'active'. If so, 'hide' it and launch game; this will create a sh3 folder for your GWX Version. Hope this is of help to you.

Well, ac3filter.ax is a sound driver. Have you tried updating your audio drivers, lowering the hardware acceleration etc.
Also, which loading screen did you get to? The howling wolf or the main loading screen with the submerged u-boat.

Thanks for the response. I get the howling wolf and then that fades and the error message comes up. I have not had a chance to try the my documents advice, and will do so when I get home from work.
If it's a sound file issue I find that odd, but I have the most recent drivers (it's a sound blaster live card....not exactly new).

Try updating your sound drivers and all should be well. When building GW and GWX... it was with a Sound Blaster Live card in my old rig.
May it rest in peace.:dead:

I've got to try to remember this because I delete them.
In GWX you get the howling wolf & then the SH3 intro video? If that is correct then I would suggest deleting the UBI intro video. There have been reports of these causing trouble like yours due to driver conflicts. You can find these files by searching the program folder for 'intro'. This should fix it for you.

Ok, strangely enough I didn't have to do anything but "reboot" my computer. So after doing three installs and having no luck. I rebooted my computer and the game ran without a hitch! =)
I also managed to find a copy of SH4 yesterday and installed the game. I patched it to 1.1 and then booted the game and was promptly given a CTD. So keeping in mind what I read here I disabled the intro movies and then the game booted fine. So I re-enabled the movies and the game booted fine again!
I don't know why it happened this way, but I'm happy to say I am running SH3+GWX and SF4 1.1 without a problem now.
