Can you upgrade to a new boat during campaign?

Is it possible to switch to a new boat inbetween patrols when you play a career?

Inquiring minds wants to know.

yes it will tell you if the base commander is offering it to you you can reject it or accept the new boat but if you like your old boat you can stay with it

no, you can do radar upgrades, external weapon upgrades add new crew, that all cost renown.

You get offered a new class of boat if u did in outstanding patrol.

For example i got offered a GATO class after a patrol in which i destroyed 1 LC, 2 BBs, and a tanker which were in a Task force heading to chinia from japan, I was on the surface in hvy fog only way to track them with radar, since the sonar dont seem to work at periscope depth. 1BB got a lucky hit on me and killed my entire watch crew, but 4 torps into him silenced him pretty effectivly.

Total Tonnage 78,000 @ 50% realism, with external cam, and unlimited diseal fuel, cause the fuel mangment in this game is almost impossible.
