So I got my nice shiny new XXI sub and set out from bergen. At Snorkel depth with snorkel out flank spead is 21 knots and set half way is 17 knots so I was quite happy with that. A bit outta Bergen and I run into a TF 1 Illustrious Class Carrier with a bitta Dido's and some escorts. Time to check out this new stealthy stuff I said to myself. I fired 3 of my torps in my own made salvo and slowly dived down. All 3 torps hit within 2-3 seconds of each other and she went down. Went on hit up 2 small merchants and 1 C&D class the wondered to myself god this is going to be a long and boring patrol.A quick check of the date May 21'st 1944 put a big grin on my face. I knew the DDay landings would happen soon so I set course for the Northern Coast of france in Der Kanal. I knew that during the landings Allied troops relied on heavy naval cover to get them to where they needed to go after the initial invasion and I didnt quickly forget all the troops carriers that would be there too. On my way a few hundred kilometres out of Der Kanal I get an enemy warship report on the Hydrophones I was getting hundreds of these out around England and most of them turned out to be lone DD's not the convoys I was looking for. As the night set I got another report and quickly set course. What I ran into had me dazed it was 5 BB's unescorted. From front to back Nelson, Anson, Prince of Wales, Revenge, King George V. With 15 torpedoes left I found my chances of sinking 4 or all 5 of those ships somewhat ok but I would have been much more sure if I just sank 3 of them. I didn't let greed get to me a 4 torp burst to the Nelson had it packing its bags 2 of 3 torps hit the anson and after 2 torps the Prince of Wales was gone. I turned back for the Anson almost expending all my torps just trying to sink the sucker. I had 1-2 in the end which I fired at the King George V both hitting but not lethally damaging her.

I came out of the battle with The HMS Nelson, The HMS Anson, The HMS Prince of Wales. These guys put me up to 6-7 BB's in total that I have sunk. Its moments like these that I thought if this happened in real life what would have been the outcomes? This would have left the British with only the Revenge class BB to fight for them and help the Assault in the D-Day landings. How much years would this have added to the war and would it be possible for Germany to hold back the Allied units long enough so they could finish off their Go-229 (stealth like bombers) the rest of their XXI subs among many other of their late war wonders.

Anyway heres the SH3 commander report I take it that I don't need to show a screeny of the end of patrol log but would be happy to post it. This is about my 4th 100K patrol and it seems to me I have come a long way from when I started a few weeks ago.

: that key. its one heck of a boat 28 torps all internal 2 minute load times because of its fast torp load mechanisms (this is with torpedo load times set to historical values):rock::rock:

It really aint that hard as long as you know when enough is enough this is really important. Ive got to 2% H.I and almost had to start again after 1941.

Didn't try it what happened was I got the grand idea to engange a convoy who's escorts I wiped out surfaced I took a quick look around and saw no cannons. Ends up there was at least 1 cannon on a Large Cargo and Pyro ships with stacks of machine guns. I set sail to flank away from the convoy taking hits as I left. It is only when I finished hte patrol I realized how lucky I got.

Congratz, Spray. I drink after a good patrol, or after a bad patrol, also after so-so patrols. And after someone else's patrol.

I've nearly always got a glass of single malt in my hand, and that's during the patrol.

Congratulations mate, both on the kill and the bonnet:rotfl:
