View Full Version : Real Uboat 1.45 + some other tiny mods
Hey there!
Updated my working SH3 1.4b from RuB1.40 to RuB1.45 plus some of my other mods (medals, dials, etc.) reinstalled JSGMS... SH3Cmdr, skinpack.
Now when in crew management screen it seems that when scrolling around at the officers selection sh3 crashes. for new and existing carreers. is it a known issue with rub1.45 or should i reinstall?
Maybe you can also hint which file could be the reason for the crash if you had something similar.
thanks!
I have been using RUB 1.45 a long time and never had such problems; it was a very stable mod. Most probably another of your mods is causing a conflict. Best way to determine where the problem lies, is making a clean install of SH3 plus RUB 1.45, then trying to enable other mods with JSGME one by one, seeing each time if the crash comes. It is a bit time consuming, but in the end you will in fact spare time compared to go around guessing deafly :know:
did what you suggested, but after all mods reenabled the crash is not coming back?!?!
Strange :)
Maybe its happening only with certain personell? Anyway now Iam back to sea :)

uhm ... eh ... yeah... errr....... WHAT?!
Don't you remember IuB? Its the GW to RuB's NYGM!
i only know GWX which apparently equals to GW and is from different persons than the RuB series were development apparently stopped at version 1.45 created by beery. It has to be said that RuB and some earlier versions already took advantage of the hollywood damage mod by goula(?)... who is working now on hollywood chaos 1.1. Unfortunately I do not know what IuB is....
If that all confused you that is pretty normal.
No it makes perfect sense to me. I was around for all that. Real U-boat Mod was the hardcore mod. Improved U-boat Mod was like the one that preferred the prettier additions to the game while still having a few extra goodies that made it harder. Back then I was an IuB guy. RuB I know has a direct connection with NYGM but I don't think IuB means anything much to GW or GWX.
Oh and I so remember Hollywood Damage. That name makes me remember this one pic of it where there were a bunch of sailors being thrown like rag dolls from an exploding ship.
And is that Gouldjg that you mean?
Sorry to me a sh1t disturber in your thread. I just saw an opportunity to be terribly nostalgic. IuB versus RuB is SO the grandparents of NYGM versus GWX. Its like going back before Darth Vader went evil. Its like... ancient! Really I can't believe anyone still plays RuB. But I'm sure you have a good reason.

Well some could surely be named....for starters, RUB was much less resources demanding than GW or NYGM and allowed faster load times, while still retaining a good gameplay improvement. The only area where RUB is nowadays outdated is sensors, as NYGM and GW teams certainly did very good jobs with them, eliminating deaf escorts, improving realistic night visibility and such (The campaigns are also much better in NYGM and GW but the one shipped in RUB was already very decent). But I myself have been playing for some time with a RUB 1.45 plus NYGM sensors and found it certainly very well balanced.
I wish someone would concentrate in creating a "super-mod" that was only about gameplay, no eye-candy...just the best and more realistic gameplay possible, allowing the player later to add all eye candy he prefers individually. (Nothing against GW, which I like very much, but I prefer to choose the eye candy I prefer one by one)
RUB was probably the closest one to that, so I'm sorry its developement ended.

I never used any complete supermod. I started off using elements of RUB that I liked (very easy because RUB's readme listed the changes to each and every file). I also used several different small mods that I liked, including the ultimate 'eye candy' for me, Rubini's Harbour Traffic mod.
I added the campaign layers from the original GW, since they included Rubini's latest upgrades, and I will likely use the came from GWX once I can play again, and for the same reasons. All that said, I will continue to use my own favorite blend of mods, for the game I find best for me.
