Could this be why a lot of people are seeing wierd colors/graphics -extra jaggies?

SHIV needs a higher resolution, I think many will agree (FSAA or not), but with the Post-Processing FIlter "On", the game just looks sort of wierd......of course, it looks sort of wierd with it off.

Here are some comparitive pics:

Now, with filter on (notice how much the "jaggies" and colors seem to go all wierd?

Is it just me, or does the Filter OFF have better looking objects, but Filter ON has a better looking environment?

Also, the jaggies seem to be slightly toned down with the Post-Processing Filter OFF.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, seen that in other pics too, the Hollywood Effect makes ships and boats look really dark almost like its afternoon in the middle of the day, while the ocean looks great.

The filter off looks very SH3ish.

What screen res were those screenshots taken at?

Yep, not to mention, in all of the pics the sun was almost directly above me.

Where's the sunlight on the deck?

I have my game settings set to 1600x1200x32 (85hz).

All graphics maxed (excpet where I was showing the games with the Post-Processing Filter OFF, obviously).

Heck, the first pic almost looks like it has FSAA applied sometimes (of course it doesn't though...I have it set to 16x in my videocard settings...and that ain't 16x FSAA. lol)

Hey, Ark, are you experiencing stutters? I read on a Norwegian site that some guy with similar spect to yours experienced stutters that were not fps-related. So, do you?

Yeah, thats because the pic is compressed now.

Yes, they aren't too noticable...but they do exist, and they seem to come at the same interval which is annoying.

It's wierd, the game runs buttery smooth with all settings maxed....but that darn micro-stutter (as I like to refer to it) is present.

It looks just like that in-game as well. That's why I originally took the pic. ;)

Damn it! I was hoping the guy had viruses or something!

It could be the fact that I had 8 instances of Internet Explorer open. lol

Yep, the micro-stutters are still there.

I'll try again after I defrag.

Damn it. How come noone here has said anything about this? Could it be a dual core issue? (Noooooo)

:yep:

Filter Off gets you a smoother picture is what I tried to say here for a week or more, now. With the HDR off, the FSAA-setting kicks in, when running the game on a pre-8800-card. With the 8800 the FSAA is reduced, when rendering post-effects, so it's the very same effect, but the reduced FSAA will make it look at least a bit smoother.

It would be nice, if you could post the pictures either in the initial size or take a screenshot with the resolution it is later posted here. I also suggest you try FRAPS to take the screenshot, as the built-in-screenshots were looking odd in SH3, too.

You should also try to set image-quality to high. As an IL2-Veteran using a 7800GT, let me give you the hint, that this setting changes a lot in terms of image quality.
:yep:

@Ark: Did you disable HDD-Optimization? Download the tool (powertoys) TweakUI, which gives you access to hidden Windows-options and run it. It's a rather harmless tool, so no worries. Now go to "general" and scroll down the list. Near the bottom line, there is the option "Optimize Hard Disk when Idle" - uncheck it, exit and reboot. This will stop windows from defragging in the background, when there is little HDD-access by the rest of the system.

To my view, this is a better setting. Looks much more natural.

Hoops, sorry ! It is SH3.

FSAA does NOT turn on with HDR off.

FSAA does NOT work in-game no matter what you do with the options.

It may look like it from a few screenshots, but FSAA sure as heck is not working. ;)

I use an external program for screenshots (FSscreen). My HDD isn't chugging when the stutters occur. The stutters just happen.

Ew, you use IE? Yuck. Firefox baby.:smug:

Why does the post processing cause there to be noticeable aliasing?

Very blurry. I thought something had happened to my eyes. Im sure something would happen to my eyes if I looked at it too long.

I like the filter, but either AA isn't working with it on, or you can't actually change the resolution. I run at 1280x1024, and I get HUGE pixels, resulting in major jaggies on all straight edges. Have to compare with the filter and without it though...
