I *will* buy this game. But I'm going to wait until 01 June to do so -- when I figure the game will be patched appropriately, and enough, to deliver the game which was hoped for and which we expected, and even which the design team wanted to make.
As I read through the threads and learn of more things which aren't working properly, I start getting that old feeling of Designer/Developer vs. Publisher. (To the credit of subsim.com posters, the references to problems as such are being handled quite objectively.)
Development on the front end -- super heavy on the Hollywood graphics side (which is great) and which leads to lots of marketing buzz and photos. Publisher pushing product out the door to meet accounting and revenue projections.
Development team yelling, "But wait! We need a working stadimeter..." Will rationality or the dollar sign win? You take a guess. How does everything else work in a consumer society?
Note that I've been around here since April of 2005. For those who may be discouraged -- the game will get a lot better with the patches, and subsim modders will take that and make the game 500% more enjoyable and playable.
Ubi -- thank you for supporting a sub sim. Don't lower the price just yet. I will still pay $50 for it on the first of June!
