Possible Spoilers.

I was ordered to go to a certain spot in the pacific then when I got there I was ordered to engage merchant shipping. I didn't find any and im almost out of fuel so I need to refuel. One of my mission objectives are incomplete and that is, engage merchant shipping. I cant do that cause im out of fuel. I do have enough fuel to make it back to port or go to a closer port but I cant dock at any port. It wont give me the option to dock.

So what am I supposed to do?

Nope. I did see it when I was first leaving the port to go on patrol. But it isnt there now. I am at manila in a s-class driving all around the port. parking in different spots. etc. No option to dock.

Let me go look at the map real quick.

What port in Australia did you start in?

I have a slightly similar prob. How to achieve your objective during a patrol, OK taking a photo in Tokyo harbour is pretty clear, but when you get "patrol the North Chinese See" "Binocular Icon" what do you need to actually do to finish that task ?. Been cruising that see for almost 3 weeks sinking stuff but the it still says not complete.

I just noticed that if I zoom out on the map view I can see blue anchor icons on some of the ports but there isnt one on manila.

Also a enemy airplane attacked me right by manila. within 100 feet. I think this island was taken over by the enemy or something lol. and my base was changed to somewhere else?

I really dont know what's going on but I am pretty sure I started in manila.

I started from 1941 too and didn't see Aus. Only Manila and Pearl.

I can't start from Pearl because everytime I start the relooping sound bug appears........

I've tried everything. Even on off. I even went to control panel to turn off hardware acceleration.

On December 25, 1941 the Navy base closed down and Manila fell to the japanese that week. So it may no longer be active. If that is the case you need to find an alternate port. Tiljap or something like that was available. I believe it was a Dutch Port. If not there, than a base in Austrailia.

Just guessing tho. :D

Sometime during the first mission out of Manila you get a message (or you don't, if you play too fast?) that Luzon has been taken over by the Japanese and they had laid siege to the Bataan peninsula... for some reason, the game still allowed me to dock at Manila after patrolling the Luzon Strait.

However, upon starting my second patrol, I noticed that Manila didn't have the anchor symbol anymore, instead Surabaya became my homebase (indicated by the anchor symbol) - figures as the Japanese had overrun Manila.

Great, huh? So I docked in Surabaya after the mission - no problem. Only that, when starting my third patrol, Surabaya was an enemy base (at least the coastal batteries were firing at me and a Japanese freighter was moored in port) - dove to periscope depth and crept out to sea.

Seems the relocation of homeports takes place at set dates, whether you're in that port or not.

And btw, I'm having the same trouble with incomplete mission objectives - both when asked to patrol some sea and when ordered to engage merchant shipping in some area - no matter how much I sink, the mission objective stays incomplete - maybe expending all torpedoes would help? I didn't check that yet...

There are two different types of those missions, one is "deploy to xxxxx" where you get a secondary mission when reaching the deploy point, the second is "patrol xxxxx" where you have to patrol the area for a week or so, not 24 hours like in SH3 :)

Yeah, and neither of these two works for me - when asked to 'deploy to X area' the first objective clears and I'm asked to engage merchant shipping - which cannot be completed.

The mission type 'patrol X' does not work either, same problem. At least for me. Got myself a nice cruise of the Celebes sea, though...

You have to sink at least 10k tons but those numbers may vary i believe.
