Ubisoft has made and uploaded a great-looking release trailer for us. Two particular things to notice are the working morse light on a Japanese (?) warship and a ship that's apparently moored to a dock with actual ropes.

And the ropes aren't chopped into 2999 individual pixels because of Ubis god-awful post processing cluster ****?

If it isnt there might be hope that this can be disabled in SH4!

EDIT: Video is too low res to really see it.

I don't think that the ship at the end of the trailer was moored, the ropes that you've seen looked more like (radio)?-wires attached to the sub.

Sure doesn't look like that in other videos. Why not show us more video of actual gameplay?! The trailer gets an oscar as usual but WHAT ABOUT THE GAME UBISOFT?

That was the intro to the game? It felt more like an intro to Silent Hill. It was a bit too weird for a subsim.:doh::lol:

It reminded me of the ring (Scary):cry:

I think the trailer is a little strange for a subsim... maybe a tribute to the 'casual gamers market'...

I think the narator has watched "War of the worlds" once too often, talk about your corn ball!!:lol:

That's a poem by John Milton (1608–1674), and personally thinks it fits perfectly to the video. Remember it's a war game, not My little pony.:)

Fly, envious Time, till thou run out thy race,
Call on the lazy leaden-stepping hours,
Whose speed is but the heavy plummet's pace;
And glut thyself with what thy womb devours,
Which is no more than what is false and vain,
And merely mortal dross;
So little is our loss,
So little is thy gain.
For when as each thing bad thou hast intombed,
And last of all thy greedy self consumed,
Then long Eternity shall greet our bliss
With an individual kiss,
And Joy shall overtake us as a flood;
When every thing that is sincerely good
And perfectly divine,
With truth, and peace, and love, shall ever shine
About the supreme throne
Of Him, t' whose happy-making sight alone
When once our heav'nly-guided soul shall climb,
Then, all this earthly grossness quit,
Attired with stars, we shall for ever sit,
Triumphing over Death, and Chance, and thee, O Time.

I didnt like it, too much talking...mabe its to hide the poor sound effects lol

A quick choice quote from an american sub skipper and the intro would have been fine.

1. I don't like the Poem. Milton? Give me a break! It's not even good Milton. I mean with everything that's in Paradise Lost, they come up with this?
2. It is not appropriate to the time or place.
3. I don't like the voice reciting it either.

I found the extended poem to be really annoying and totally out of place. I put it in the same catagory of the game, as having it implemented in metric and of a marketing department without a clue.

I call it a last ditch attempt!!:rotfl:

It certainly is different. I liked it though.

Who knew that the Silent Service was emo? (and here I swore I would never utter that word...)

Looks great, but gawd the Milton voiceover is pretentious and incredibly inappropiate.

Wow....

Gave me the chills, the poem fits if you listen....

I said somewhere else that it reminded me of the trailers for STALKER. I mean, for a sim depicting German u-boats it's ok in a depressing sort of way but for the American, Pacific, Hawaii-island girls, tanning on the beach locale you need something upbeat, dare I say, something FOXNEWS patriotic. In that era, you need something upbeat like a war broadcast of the time or one of those news reels they played in movie theatres, like, "We're gonna woop 'em good boys! ...And buy war bonds! Hooray!"

I think its about the most stupid trailer I've seen, and all the dark videos are to hide the uber sucky graphics. I am most definately holding on this one, and hoping its actually a viable game.

Thats one of the coolest intros I`ve seen!

Edit: Just watched it again, and that poem is awesome. I think this is a really good way to introduce a wargame.

Agreed. I actually thought the poem fit perfectly with the video. The voice of the guy reading it made it sound even better.

Totally agree. That is clearly a new approach, and it payed off big time.

The voice was bad, but the poem fits perfectly. I would have plucked something from TS Eliot, though for temporal relativity.

Poor Yamato, it seems to get sunk every day...

that's odd, I got a double post by refreshing the thread.
