I am looking for some advice. I just got notice via a radio message from BDU stating that Lorient is no longer available for operations. I am currently about half-way home from my patrol of the US/Canadian Eastern Seaboard. Previously in other careers I was instructed that the base had changed and was told a new base to go to...so far I have heard nothing from BDU on an alternate base. I projected my fuel based on returning to Lorient, so I am a little concerned and hope BDU will respond soon with a new return base. Any of you ever been in this situation, any ideas on where I should be headed? I am hoping I will be sent to one of the couple remaining French bases and not up north... I don't want to loose my renown/promotions, etc. by picking the wrong base. TIA

Hmmmm. Someone in the last few days posted a thread about getting beat up pretty bad coming back to France after the bases fell.

Ah, here it is:

If your playing GWX your new base is "Trondheim" otherwise head for Bergan. If Lorient is still blue on the map and you dock there you will have to shoot it out next time your going on Patrol.

I got a similar thing, they told me to go to St Nazaire via radio, after I had just gone between the Orkney and Shetlands on my way back to Kiel... which meant I had to turn around and go back, which as you know, the Orkney and shetlands are an aeroplane deathtrap!:rotfl:

havnt BdU ever heard of advanced warning?

Stock SHII should send you to St Nazaire once Lorient is no longer available.

It is already getting really hairy, I am about to shoot between the Faroe islands and Scotland and I am contantly getting forced under by aircraft and picking up contacts of single destroyers/escorts out on patrol...have a feeling it is only going to get worse...and I will not be arriving unscathed.

It is currently Oct. 1944....the farthest I have ever gotten in my many careers. I have had multiple careers get to Fall of '43...nice to get over that hump. This is also my first IX boat (IXC), not sure if that has anything to do with my longevity but I doubt it. These IX boats handle like Lincolns and Dive like they are wearing a life preserver.

Ever considered an IXD-2 a very nice pig boat surface to pd in 42 seconds I would seriously consider upgradeing.
