FYI: Signature size

Hi! The maximum allowed size for signature images is 400x120, the maximum allowed signature height, including text, is 150 pixels.

Please use JPG images only. No animated GIF´s >50KB.

You don´t need to change your current signature if it´s not more than 20% higher or wider than allowed.

LOL nice one, thats a HUGE picture!

I don't meen to sound rude here, but does it really matter what hight/width sigs are (to a certain degree!). I mean it been 10 pixels larger isn't going to kill someones connection. Spaxspore's sig for example is very small only about 70kb, that is hardly going to slow down a dial-up connection. What I'm getting at is fair enough its all well and good having limits, but have a bit of deviation from them now and then, I personally don't think people care if theres a big sig (within reason of course), but to say "you can't have that sig, its 10 pixels too high" etc etc is just silly.

You won´t hear me say that. I don´t even care if an existing signature is 30 pixels too high. But it´s important to enforce the rules we have in a reasonable way, otherwise people would do what they want.

In the past twelve months I´d contacted about 150 members whose signatures were severely oversized, either height-wise or filesize-wise. Signature too high = you need to scroll a lot more. Signature filesize too big = Longer loading times for dial-up members... This issue needs constant attention, or it would get out of hand in a matter of two months.

Thats perfectly reasonable, I understand there do need to be limits as some people will just wack a 1024x768 res image in their sig lol which is of course rediculous. :arrgh!:

If you´re in doubt if it does post here or ask a moderator via PM, he then either says that it´s ok, or he´ll ask you to change it. If you already know that the signature is oversized, change it, if you don´t change it you´ll sooner or later get a request via PM from one of the moderators.

Sure, quite a few actually, either because they can´t afford DSL/cable, or they don´t want or need it, or they live in areas where high-speed Internet isn´t available.

Yes, but of course these people can disable the sigs if these smaller sigs still cause pages to load too slwo for them.
