Yeah - I saw it as it overflew the Boeing hangers a while back (last summer?) - it is a pretty big plane. One thing I did notice though when it flew by - it does not have a distinctive shape like a 747. In some respects, it could be mistaken for a smaller plane from a distance.

I live on the Eastside, but as I type this, I could walk to very hangers in about 10 min. That is how far away from them I am right now.

God, I hate the -380. Ugly, too big, and crowded. I don't think the US airlines need to use it.

Besides, you simply cannot compete with the 747-300/400/SP:rock: . Airbus is now feeling the ill effects of building something that is in such low demand right now.

If I were to list the top ten modern (post 1960's) commercial aircraft, this is what I would choose:

1. Boeing 747-300/400
2. Boeing 767-200/200ER/300/300ER
3. Airbus A320/321
4. Boeing 737-300/400/500
5. Airbus A340-300/600
6. Boeing 757-200
7. Airbus A300
8. Boeing 777-200/200ER/200LR/300/300ER
9. Sud Aviation Caravelle
10. Douglas DC-9/McDonnald-Douglas MD-80 series/Boeing 717 (They are all the same airplane)

Now if I were to list my ten most favorite post 1960's commercial aircraft, they would be:

1. Boeing 737-400/500
2. Boeing 767-300ER
3. Boeing 747-400
4. Airbus A340-600
5. Airbus A300
6. Boeing 757-300 Winglets
7. Boeing 737-700
8. McDonnald-Douglas MD-11/Douglas DC-10 (Same Aircraft)
9. Airbus A319
10. Boeing 717/MD-80 series/DC-9

Looks like you need to fly on a 777. Best airplane flying right now. Best comfort. You name it, it has it. Everyone I have ever flown comes with personal video screens and personal GPS units, etc. Good leg room. Big windows. THis all seems to be across all airlines too.

I suspect the 787 will be even better!

Those are my final picks. The first list was just what I thought was the best airliners over the years, based on a more general explination. I was not talking just about passenger comfort, and I'm sure the triple seven is best in that class. What I'm talking about is more of a personal, 'inside' preference. Things like looks, what the cockpit looks like, seating, performance, sounds, service, and 'power.'

'Power' is something I cannot describe you, it's just a feeling that you get when looking at the aircraft. Must be from my love of flying or something.

Anyway, if you post a picture of a modern commercial jet liner (Besides the Russian ones, I always get confused with them), then I can identify it. Try me.;)

If you give us the N-number (tail number) it will be very easy.

Favorite airliners?

Ford 4AT
Boeing Monomail
Boeing 247
Boeing 307
Boeing Stratocruiser
Lockheed 749/1049 Constellation
Douglas DC-3
Douglas DC-6
Convair 440

Jets? Forget it; no class. Well, maybe the Comet.

Oh, just so you know: I've ridden in ever single one of those, except the Boeing Monomail.

I miss Fokker jets. The best thing about the were the speed. I always loved it when I got on a Fokker over an MD-80. The Fokker has about .1 to .15 Mach faster crusie speed, and thats pretty significant over a long distance.
