I was leaving the port of St. Nazaire in the beginning of my patrol, and I was taking the exact same route I always take out of it, and trust me, I didn't hit anything coming out of it, but suddenly my u-boat was rocked by an explosion, and I took pretty bad damage to the stern torpedo room and the engines, which I was able to fix. Im interested in knowing how this happened. Is it possible I hit the fire key and fired a torpedo, cause the only thing I can think of is a torpedo exploding in the tube, or near the stern of my ship, but I dont know if thats possible.

haha, well, after that happened just to be safe, Bernard got tied to the front of the boat for the rest of the journey
But again, ive taken that route time and time again, I never expected to hit a mine. Wouldnt it have gone off on the bow, not the stern?

:rotfl:Good to be on the safe side!
Hmm..excellent question, mate....I dont think the torps can explode in the tubes in SHIII, or right behind the sub...they have the 400 meter "safe distance" (before arming), so this is weird.... The only suggestion i have, is that a mine was involved....Maybe someone could shed some light on this, im curious too...:yep::hmm:

What 'breed' of SH3 are you playing? GWX, NYGM or Stock (or other).
Did you die from this explosion? If so what were you killed by? Explosion or Collision?
It's possible that you did hit a mine as the minefields in GWX expand/move as the war progresses. Were you following your port escort?

 my bad, mate.....300 it is...(i actually thought it was 400, but then i tried it, and .......300 is ok.... Sorry)
The Allies started dropping mines on the French ports arund 42-43. Does GWX have mines dropped by aircraft? :hmm: :o
