I'd say it's harsh but fair!
That little? :dead:
I think that's a light penalty for what's basically the biggest violation of forum rules that you can get. Plus very bad taste before the official release date!

Subsim Policy On Warez
"SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy. We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of warez, abandonware, peer-to-peer game swapping, illegal download sites, or rip-off websites. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account. Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know."

Why not have them handcuffed to Bernard and having the key thrown into the middle of the atlantic. :arrgh!:

Why can't we talk about cracks?
Hereīs what I wrote in another thread last year:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=336739&postcount=5
Itīs none of our business what you do with your copy of SH3 at home. But this is a private forum and there are forum rules. And they make perfect sense!
Over the years Neal has built up very good relationships to numerous developers and publishers. They know that Subsim is a reputable forum, they know that there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding cracks, they trust Neal and the forum. This has advantages for the whole community. They listen to our feedback, and Neal gets feedback from them.
It would seriously harm those relationships if Neal would allow people to posts links to cracks. He will never allow that, not without a written permission of the publishers.
If you now say "Hey, I didnīt even say that it should be allowed to post links to cracks" please donīt forget that basically every time someone even mentions a crack thereīs the question "Where can I get it?", or this person will contact the poster via PM. Do we know what he will do with the crack? No. Perhaps heīll then makes copies of SH3 for his friends after he got the crack. Perhaps not. That alone is reason enough not to allow this.
So in conclusion: Donīt discuss cracks here. Please.
Why can't we talk about cracks? < edited by drebbel, info given about cracks and what they accomplish ...... man, I better order some extra planks >
Because they are illegal. Tho, in SHIIIīs case, I find that the crack isnt really that bad as ubi decided to drop the SF but didnt release tools to get rid of it.

SubSim's policy in regards to all forms of software piracy is 'zero-tollerance'. Ultimately, one must understand that this is a private forum, and that these are the rules of the forum's owner. We have developers and software engineers who regularly visit the forum, and this is how SubSim.com is able to get the inside story with such frequency. Naturally, we want this to continue, so the discussion piracy, which is very harmful to the producers of these simulations, is banned by the forum rules. Simply stated, abide by them, or get out. In regard to this particular issue [piracy], there is no compromise.

Since were on the topic can someone explain to me this; If I goi out and buy the game which I am btw, and install it then later deside I would rather be able to play the game without having to load the DVD into my drive, how is it bad for me to ask on the forums if anyone knows of a No CD or No DVD "c" word?
The file is not really a "c***k" because in order to use it you have to have the game in the first place. If we were to call it a NoDVD file, would that be ok??

It doesnīt matter what you call it, itīs not allowed to discuss cracks/NoDVD files or to ask for them. We have a zero-tolerance policy, we mentioned that twice already in this thread.

Anyone new to the forums or hasn't been here in awhile, take heed. SubSim has a ZERO tolerance policy on this little subject. They tolerate alot on the forums, but this subject isn't one of them.

Like Gizzmoe said: this is a private forum:
We're in Neal's house here and we have to follow his rules....although I haven't always agreed with the way opinions are censored here, I'm still a guest and I'll behave like one.....
I wouldn't tolerate someone coming into my place and tell me what to do...

Dont DL pirated versions You might think cool didn't pay a cent, your friends might envy you, your girlfriend might even admire you more than ever before! You will start to feel different they say its the haxxor enitity reaching out to you, little do they know. You start heading to forums where others like you meet out and mingle in "i hacked into my grandmothers PC & stole her cooking recipes" type threads. Your get flamed or banned if you show any hint of going back to the light side - leaving these ppl is not easy, they know your email, IP and your probably told them more things about yourself than you would to anyone else. You can run but you can't hide they will find you again and again and again... You payed the price. That one temptation has led to your cybersoul being infested with guilt, these ppl have cause you to setup your rig like a fortress, you got 3 spywares running, two firewalls and scanning for viruses everytime before you log off. Your spam filter is overloaded with 5000 spam emails per day all untrackable, you know its them but theirs little you can do. Your PC restarts randomly, you take up smoking, the stress is unbearable, empty beer cans are scattered around the room, your girlfriend has left you - but you dont care they dont understand your convinced the matrix is real yet others think your insane they are insane you shout THEY ARE NOT HAXXOR!!! you slump over your keyboard falling in a deep sleep you hate sleep, the nightmares of you running from them hundreds of 0's and 1's chasing you, dark shapes, maddening shadows eats away at your subconsious mind. The matrix voice warns you WAKE UP! Sleep is your enemy. You think about the happy times the good days with your girlfriend hand in hand walking into your local PC gaming store & BUYING A GAME. You haven't visited a store in yrs.... Stacks and stacks of pirated dvds lays next to your PC glancing over you give a sickly stare, your weak wort like arm reaches out and grabs silent hunter IV version 1.0 you load her up tis been 3 yrs since Silent hunter IV came out yet you still have version 1.0, you can't update they know its a pirate copy they know about you! You have no friends on either side, the light side tried to help you but you wouldn't listen, the dark side hates you cause you mentioned you brought a game. You wish you could go back to those happy times, you miss your girlfriend, you miss your multiplayer buddies. As you grab a photo of your ex the memories roll back, a tear rolls down your cheek... you know its the end.
Is it really worth all that? Where all you had to do is go down to your local pc store and buy the game!

Are you OK???
In all reality I agree that its wrong, but the way software is these days, I almost don't blame people that do it for one reason and one reason only..
If you download a game and like it, you should PAY FOR IT!! I know I did with SH3, and would with SH4 only I don't have time..
That's right, I am admitting it. You buy a game these days and find out its only 60% finished ( at best ) and guess what! you cannot return it, so you're stuck with the game for life ( or you could sell it back for less than 50% of the cost )
IMO its your fault if you buy an airplane game and then find out you don't like to fly, but if you buy that same airplane game and find out its not even finished, I would be livid...
I have not got my copy of SH4 yet, I will go out and buy it because I don't have time to "TRY" it by downloading it, so I will spend the 40 bucks or whatever and take a chance, but from what i am already reading I am gonna be dissapointed

Well why not wait a bit, until the first patch at least?? :hmm:
I think the penalty for stealing SHIV should be a viscous shivving.

Aha,,here is sign. "fastfed" again.
Why do you play games at all?????
If a game is so not-ready ,,gaming is not perfect because there are so many tech.spec things with it,,well buy a TV and watch movies,,or maybe you crack the cable codes as well or buy a console of some kind,, not so top notch graphics, but at least you'll have a "ready" game for the console,,,or.......?????
Bottomline is IMHO that some ppl just want to get things for free and borderline to a thing called: Being a "thief". Easy as that.
I've been into really deep discussions about this topic, since I write music/make music, I just say that some people want stuff for free , no matter what.
How about free cars????,,,car thieves,,,,how about free jewelery,,well the list goes on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Zhe brig...no good place....noo-nooo......:nope: Actually: i dont even understand why some people discuss these matters here.. It is an accident waiting to happen. The forum rules are clear, and discussing the issue around pirating wont help any of you. My suggestion: Use those fingers to play SH4 instead of trying to change the world, mates!
