Which base to return to?

I'm in the middle of my first career; 10th patrol and a radio report (August 1st, 1940) indicates my new base (finally) is Brest (from Wilhelmshaven). I'm currently very close to Brest and want to know is this the base I'm to return to? This could save a few days heading back to Germany.

--As a test I did go all the way back to my original base and found that upgrades and other features are locked out. When I checked the next mission there is no grid to patrol; it appears I simply am to go to Brest! What is the proper thing to do?

Sail to Brest if that's your new base,if you go to any other, you will not be able to upgrade your boat or promote and your next patrol will be "Null" meaning you can sail anywhere you like.then return to Brest and everything goes back to normal.

As a 'one off' hit the 'Esc' key and you'll be teleported to the correct base :arrgh!:
