As everyone here, cannot wait till I get my copy in the post. Until then, just wondered what your No1 feature is that we know will (or most likely will) be included in SH4?

I know there are loads of goodies that are going to better SH3, but what is your number 1?

For me I think its the campaign changes, how its going to be more dynamic:up:

Additional missions while you´re on patrol, like photo ops and SAR.

Exactly, doesnt look like its just patrol this grid for 24 hours, which seemed pointless to me, only useful for the reknown. Instead we will be directly involved in historical content and also have alternate orders at random times:up:

Ah, ok. I Since those features have been in every Pacific SubSim I did not consider these as a real additional feature. But I guess it is and it will sure prevent war patrols from becoming a drag.

For me, it will be a combination of the improved graphical feel of the game and not having to micro manage my crew.

For me it will be the greater opportunity for sinking warships, particularly those beautiful Japanese ones. S-44 versus Kako, anybody?

Does anyone know if more renown will be awarded for sinking naval vessels than in SH3? As I recall, there was at one point a concerted efforted to sink escorts, given the IJNs weaknesses in that area.

Features? Hopefully the AI will be better. As of now I am just hoping they release the game in a finished state.

Definitely the reassignment of special or historical missions during the dynamic campaign as well as actually being able to see AI sailors move around the ships which will hopefully add some immersion.

This:up:The improved control room, some of the improvements to the dynamic campaign
( extra missions, etc. ).

The fact that shortly after I will have a new computer and run it on max settings:yep:

Not having to micromanage the crew...getting to play as "the good guys"...seeing huge naval battles, and being in the middle of them...

Man, I can't wait until next week!

For me its the immersion bits. Crew on deck, survivors in the water, parachutes, etc.

As long as it has a dynamic campaign am happy.

Am still having nightmares of sh2,which was a fun game however it had no replayablity at the level sh3 had. Basicaly do mission, your done, go home eat pie.

At times I've felt a little strange about blowing up British and U.S. shipping. But now I'll get to drive guilt-free U.S. subs!

I must admit that the improved graphics are the most interesting to me. For me, SH3 was almost perfect as it was. If all they had done was update the graphics and add support for widescreen resolutions, I would have been happy.

Having said that, the features mentioned above are all very exciting! My only worry is that SH4 won't support FSAA. If this turns out to be true...I will be very dissapointed indeed.

Just picked up a Dell 2007WFP last year, and was holding my breath in anticipation of SH4 hopefully adding support for higher resolutions in general. Heaved a sigh of relief when they said they were, and with 1680x1050 being a shoe-in resolution. SH3 still looks damn good, and any additions to their already awesome water is just icing. The screenshots look loaded with icing, so the release can't come soon enough!

My favorite feature will be the Pacific, and being back there in a decent Submarine with good equipment and a reasonable number of Torpedo tubes. Fleet boats FTW !!

I won't know until I try!

But I really look forward to the new crew management, mission types, adversarial multiplayer, and a few of the graphics improvements. I'll decide which of these (or others) is my favorite only when the game is on my HD :p

There look to be many exciting features within SH4, though honestly I'm just elated not to be pinned down again to an antiquated 17-year old XGA fixed resolution of 1024x768. *shudder*

Widescreen is a beautiful thing!

Mine is probably to stand on the bridge of a Gato or Balao again in the Pacific (it's been more than 7 years). Beyond that; the new weather model, new crew management, missions more than patrol x grid for 24 hours, and selectable resolutions higher than 1024x768.

Needless to say I can't wait!

Funny thing is that for me it's the exact opposite. I love roleplaying the Kaleun who does his duty despite knowing that he's on the "evil" side, that his side is going to lose the war, that his leaders are all madmen.

Fighting for a cause you know is both unjust and hopeless, but doing it anyway, and doing it well, because it is your duty to do so, adds a level of moral ambiguity and shades of grey to the whole affair that I really enjoy. They certainly portray "Der Alte" in Das Boot as someone having to deal with these conflicts.

That being said, I'm looking forward to the missions and the graphics!

For me its going to be the Manned AI boats and LifeRafts. That will add a whole new twist to playing.

And its also about time. SHIII had a little bit of it with the Manned guns on the bigger ships. But SHIV is bringing it in, with everything is manned... To cool.

The new visuals are great, but having just got back from playing it at the UK preview I'm most looking forward to getting online in a wolfpack with some fellow simmers. It's a lot of fun.

The improved dynamic campaign (objectives that change in-game, new types of objectives, more radio traffic, and so on) is probably the #1 feature in my eyes. Then follows the new crew manager. After that, perhaps the improved mission editor.

Ice cream. If I don't see Bernard's American equivilent sampling a frosty treat Romania will feel my wrath! :xOne mainstay dessert was the Submarine Special Ice Cream consisting of frozen grape juice, condensed milk, and diesel fuel. The coctails served on u-boats couldn't come close.
