Japanese ships were pretty tough...looks like the Zuikaku took a beating before going down.

Sad to see so much history put to waste. Not quite the same, but related, My dad has quite the Seashell collection from snorkeling off Kwajalein in the mid seventies; He worked on a Missle Tracking ship on the Pacific Missle Range.
this is the part of his naval experiance he talks of most (This was after his enlisted service when working as a Civilian Contractor.). I've heard tales from when he was aboard the midway. though little about (one story) when he was assigned to inland ("brown Water") duty aboard a PBR. which is quite understandable from the story I've heard. Much respect to all Veterans.
