View Full Version : Heads up! New DOSBox is out!
A new version of the Emulator has been released.
I didn't see it posted yet, so I took the honor to be the messenger.

Users are reporting major speed increases with this latest build. :-)
Didn't try it yet, but am sure anxious to see how SHI will perform now. And SEAL Team. And Su-27 Flanker 1, which has troubles with USB sticks and thus needs to be run in Dos mode, but up til now Dosbox was having a hard time with that one.

Good find, thanks, mate! You just got promoted :up:
Looks great, many thanks :up:
Hey, thanks Neal! :D
I've tested some older games and got mixed results. Both Flanker and SHI run excellent now. :) But for some reason unknown to me, 1942 PAW, Tornado and SEAL Team run terribly slow on 7.0, while pretty good on 6.5. Well, no problem really, since the versions are not exclusive.

Gee, I already noted that days ago in my sticky on MSVPC at the top! :)
I am still using 0.63 for most things. I love to flip back and forth between my old games and my windows desktop with the game minimizing to the task bar. It will do this with 0.63. However, 0.65 and 0.70, the game will flip from full screen to windowed mode as you shift to your the desktop. In other words, there is no way that I know to lock the game in full screen mode when it loses windows focus.
Does anyone understand what I am talking about and maybe know something about 0.65 and 0.70 that I don't? Thanks.

What's a sticky? ;););)
Hmm, I can minimize Dosbox into the task bar no problem, simply by "Alt-Enter" and then, well, minimizing it.
"In other words, there is no way that I know to lock the game in full screen mode when it loses windows focus."
I'm not entirely sure what you mean here, but maybe the option in red in the 0.70 dosbox.conf example below is of relevance to your issue:
[sdl]
# fullscreen -- Start dosbox directly in fullscreen.
# fulldouble -- Use double buffering in fullscreen.
# fullresolution -- What resolution to use for fullscreen: original or fixed size (e.g. 1024x768).
# windowresolution -- Scale the window to this size IF the output device supports hardware scaling.
# output -- What to use for output: surface,overlay,opengl,openglnb,ddraw.
# autolock -- Mouse will automatically lock, if you click on the screen.
# sensitiviy -- Mouse sensitivity.
# waitonerror -- Wait before closing the console if dosbox has an error.
# priority -- Priority levels for dosbox: lowest,lower,normal,higher,highest,pause (when not focussed).
# Second entry behind the comma is for when dosbox is not focused/minimized.
# mapperfile -- File used to load/save the key/event mappings from.
# usescancodes -- Avoid usage of symkeys, might not work on all operating systems.
fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=original
windowresolution=original
output=surface
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt
usescancodes=true
I tested the newest DOSBoxVersion with Burnig Steel (German version of GNBNA) and compared to DOSBox v0.61 this runs perfect now (perfect sound, perfect speed).
