I was patrolling near the canary islands and made sound contact with 4 ships.

1 brazilian tanker, 1 brazilian C3 cargo, a brazilian tramp steamer all three being escorted by a Corvette flying the U.S. Flag.

they were travelling in a column, and the cargo ships were unarmed. so i took out the corvette, surfaced and started plugging away at the cargo ships with the deck gun.

but i thought brazil was neutral???

i remember all these radio messages about "you can attack neutral ships if they are being escorted..." etc etc

sank all 3 of the brazilian ships and it counted them all as enemy vessels, not neutrals.

Brazil, as well as other latin-american countries, declared war on the axis. In my game I have Brazil entering the war with the allies on September 22nd, 1942

edit: As I recall, most of them declared war on the Axis after being pissed off one to many times with the U-boats sinking their merchant ships (specially oil tankers).

Doesn't matter I consider a ship a ligit target if it sailing under armed escort with the country your at war with if it's a neutral why the escort.

Yes, I believe 42 was the year Brazil go pissed because the boats where sinking the Brazilian tankers off Cape Hatteras. Operation Drum Beat. One Captian of a tanker painted down the side of his boat in three spots, both sides, BRAZIL. Also had Brazilian flags all over it. No matter, the uboat sent it to the bottom.;) Oops....sorry about that:doh:
