I am sorry if it was asked and answered already... I've been thinking recently on origins of 'kaleun' nick, it is most obvious that it is a shorthand for Kapitaen-Leutenant. But then I wondered what were the shorthands for Frigattenkapitaen and Korvettenkapitaen, would it not be disrepectful to call a Frigattenkapitaen - kaleun?
Any clues?

Welcome aboard kaleun :arrgh!:
Sorry but I don't have an answer to this :nope: The Kriegsmarine being a disciplined service would IMO mean that any shortening would be deemed disrespectful and not tolerated :nope:

In my boat we use a "stress free" environment. As long as they show the due level of respect they can call me however they like;)

In mine I use Sailor Steve soundpack files and I don't hear anymore the "Jawohl Herr Kaleun !!" What a break...
I can barely imagine if I heard every 5 minutes "Jawohl, Herr Korvettenkapitän !!"

In the German navy the shorthand was and is until today "Kapitän" for
Korvettenkapitän, Fregattenkapitän and Kapitän zur See.

You bet! I had no idea this had been made. As much as I like to be shown respect I much prefer pertinent information to be provided as efficiently as possible. Do you have a link for this "mod" and does it work with GWX?
Thank you,
M
