This is the Second time they done it to me 1st time in GW and now in GWX, the low lives have deserted me again.Just been informed that my base had changed from Lorient to Trodheim,but instead of telling me earlier,they waited until the harbour was full of British ship's apart from 1 German Tugboat.and not oly that there were 4-b-24s coming my way too,not to mention the British Warships in the inlet. and to cap it all I had to do a patrol in grid EB69 (sept 17 44) I was lucky to get out of Lorient let alone going down to EB69,and if that wasn't enough about 100km out 6 Black swans trying to hunt me down took 3 down 3 left,no torps left in forward tubes 2 officers are dead+2NCO's it's just not my day today.:nope:

I made it to 1942, but only because my boot was so torn up when I got back in December of 41 it took that long to fix.
My goal is to be the guy in the little fishing boat you see on your way out of Kiel harbor.......I'll wave as you head out, then I'll finish my coffee and mutter under my breath "Good luck Thompson"!

Hi,

I've made it to 1943 and it hasn't been that hard. I can tell things are a changing now tho! I'm starting to meet up with Aircraft in the outskirts of Biscay Bay and an S-Class sub once 2/3rd's of the way into the bay deep in the night, which I took on with my Deckgun. I sunk him but he took me down to 86% Hull Integrity with his Deck Gun. I was manning the Deck Gun myself and it's hard to see an enemy sub in the dark! I can see ships fine, but a black low profile sub against dark clouds on the horizon in the background is a different matter!

Ok, once in mid-late '42 I made it back with only 34% Hull Integrity, but that's because I was getting a little too brave against aircraft. Actually, I had been totally avoiding aircraft up until I was finally sent to a grid(ED99) where they were buzzing overhead what seemed like every 2 minutes. Prior to that I had not been sent to patrol a grid where aircraft were a problem at all.

Right now I just got a Type IX/3 Conning Tower and got the Flakvierling upgrade, and wow, it seems pretty awesome against big fat bombers. I'm avoiding(diving) the little fighters as I have a feeling big fat targets might be one thing for the Flakvierling, while those zippy little guys are probably another. I just got it tho and I don't know how long it'll be as effective as it is against the big guys, but it seems pretty good at the moment.

I will say I have been trying to be very careful this career to see how far I could get. I wanted to get as far as I could before SH4 came out. I have never hunted in shallow water, and have never put(or gotten) myself in a situation where more than two Destroyers were hunting for me at the same time, and I can be pretty sneaky when it comes to escaping their search patterns.

I have only did it once in gwx got to war end my second career ended in Mar 45,my present career am in the mid of 41, but I will say this all them Flack guns aint going to help you and there tons of warships just dieing to meet you out there in 44-45.
