Ever notice how US Radio stations play all the same thing across the country and it is a very limited selection? The reason for that is, a total of 4 companies managed to buy up nearly all of them, and then forced upon you what you were going to listen to and what record companies want to sell you - mainly managed cookie cutter music - same crap you had last week. This cookie cutter music is what has been responsible for the decline in music sales, but since admitting to their own failings as a company is a bad thing for your stock holders, music downloads has been singled out as a replacement reason as to why music sales are down. But anyway, this is all about to change. Not only are you going to get away from badly made forced music being stuffed down your throat, the radio broadcasters are being forced to play some decent music for a change - Indie labels and independants!!! When I go searching for CD's now, I can't remember the last time I purchased mainstream music - I typically have to import what I buy. Now this might all change!!! This is so exciting!! A breath of fresh air!

Anyway, I could go on forever about my views on this subject, but I'll just post the link to the article now:

Radio Dials FCC Deal
William Triplett 03.06.07, 9:10 AM ET

The four major radio broadcasters and the Federal Communications Commission are putting the final touches on a payola settlement that will likely have many stations playing a different tune or two....

Great, they will gain the freedom to play more handy-jingle-style songs, then?

Try Freedom to play what they want to play.

Now since the 4 companies are still in control, I wonder if they will force bad music down our throats? THen again, if they want to maintain listeners, they will need to play something decent still!

Yeah, I think Cox Radio is the worst.....they even took over the AM stations... That's all you hear from the stations here: "The opinions expressed are in no way assosiated with Cox Radio and are totally the ideas of the....":hulk:

TV quality in German TV is constantly detoriating. Obviously there are many viewers who do not care or maybe even like to watch all the crap. Taste of audience is not autark, but is influenced by the input available to them over the years: taste adopts. Don't be surprised that even after all these years TV companies still get away with broadcasting proletarian crap-TV like "Big Brother". And the audience of classicalk CDs has immenely grown, if judging by CD sales numbers. But the general quality of recordings and orchestral interpretations has gone down. Maybe because their are so many incompetent consumers now?

Freedom, and freedom to choose, is no right, and no natural characteristic or god-given gift, but an ability that needs to be learned and constantly trained. Opposing argument is often from the masters of advertising - who try to take the freedom of competent choosing away from you by deceiving you and outthink your reason. Amongst all psychological branches, advertisment psychologists are the ones I find most disgusting. because they try to use tricks to manipulate your intellect, and switch it off.

If I might give a quick synopsis of what you said. 'If you dont like it turn it off'.

Unfortunately, it took you close to 200 words to convey the message you could have given in eight. Stop wasting peoples' time.

You are causing an increase in global warming.

If I don't read it how will I know if I don't like it?
My point is too much talk without much substance.

His 200 hundred words could have been expressed in eight. I'd have agreed with him.

Run this thru Babelfish and see what you get.
Fernsehapparat Qualität in deutschem Fernsehapparat detoriating ständig.

Try some of the BBC remedy in the UK! Everyday the same dross, and you have to pay a license for it (over £130 p/a), even if you don't use their services (listening/watching). I'd love to see this most regressive and unfair tax in the UK finally scrapped.

Wasn't it in the 80's the limits on media ownership were relaxed, and fewer and fewer compnaies began to control more and more outlets?

Australian TV quality has benn sliding for awhile now. The morning news which use to be news is now a bunch of hairsprayed airheads talking mindless garbage.

I'm watching less and less T.V. and reading a lot more. I do watch DVD's now and again when I feel like it.

Oh dear, Wastegate, if only I knew what the hell you are talking about! Got bitten by a dog recently, or did you had a bad dinner? What your Babelfish experiment should be I do not know, but the word salad you gave is not understandable. And your intial "synopsis" of what I said simply is 90% incomplete - if that is your summary, you haven't understood what I said.

Did I do you some harm recently, or why do I earn the honour of receiving your private education lessons repeatedly now? However, for now it is a laugh, but only rarely one laughs about the same thing twice. From now on it will be boring, I assume. Maybe you want to stop it, then.

BTW, your opinion is one thing. If you really are the great judge to decide wether someone else's posting has substance or not, is questionable, so you may judge for yourself, but not for all others. I certainly don't force you to read my postings. They are clearly marked with my name, if you have noted, there is a little picture with a bird and a name in bold. So - evade them, what's ypour problem? I also do not read everything from everybody. Not reading something is so simple, professor! ;)

I sometimes read all of Skybird's posts, I did this one and found myself in agreement with it.

I do watch some stations, like Arte (Euro Franco-German station) which has great movies and documentaries sometimes. Now watching a very interesting (and currently sad) series on the history of the Jewish people (sad cause it's now on their history in Europe).

It never happend. ;)

I must admit that sometimes I take too less care to correct the many typos I produce due to my extreme speed-typing (reason: laziness). I also may fall victim to my uncomplete knowledge of English language sometimes. Sentence constructions that are okay in german sometimes maybe cannot be translated into English the way I do. If this makes a given sentence of mine difficult to understand at times, I am sorry, but in most cases I cannot help it: in those cases when I am not aware of the problem.
