I swear I am the Mr Magoo of the frickin' Kriegsmarine! I dont know if its ever happened in SH3 before but I think der Grosse Löwe is gonna refuse to give me a new boat soon. I mean I'm not an imbecile normally but put me in a U-boat and watch me disintegrate.
My latest misadventure involved patrolling grid AN23 for 24 hours. (My last patrol ended abrubtly after I crash dived in 30m of water and got DC'd which was un-neccessary as I was flooding anyway:oops: ) Surprisingly after patrolling for 24 hours i had not fulfilled my mission objective. After much muttering about mods and bugs I re-read my orders... patrol grid AM23 for 24 hours. Off i set for my designated grid. I patrol. Done. Now to find targets.
One tramp and one large merchie later I find the convoy. This is it. I'm perfectly positioned. Up scope down scope calculate range. Repeat and repeat again. I have the perfect solution. Baby cries (in real life, I dont have a baby on board) I put baby back to sleep. Back to scope, I see convoy disappearing in the distance cos I never paused it!!!!! Surface the boat to try and regain position get spotted by escort, dive deep and run at 2 knots depth charges and die. This all getting too familiar to me. Could be time to re-hire the weapons officer:yep:

I think I see your problem. When the baby cries hit escape and the baby will stop crying. As soon as you hit it again to get started of course the baby will start crying again. Cest la vie!

I'm delighted someone is getting amusement from it:D Its starting to get embarrassing. I'm the scourge of single tramp steamers everywhere but I have yet to successfully attack a convoy and live to brag about it. I think I overanalyse it a bit. The final kick in the nads came when I slunk into bed this morning at 1am after my latest failure and my girlfriend asked me why I dont play something I'm good at!! I turned my face away and whimpered myself to sleep:cry:

There's always another day, another convoy. Go to 0 TC when going to baby or the loo.

A hilarious picture forms in my mind: U-boot captain embracing periscope while holding a baby :rotfl: :rotfl:

Glad to see that there is someone else who makes stupid mistakes, maybe we went to the same sub school!

At least at the end of the day you crawl into bed with a girl. Most of use uboat freaks crawl into bed alone at night wondering why the hot blonde at the bar wasnt as impressed with my patrol history as we were.

don't feel too bad, i've had about 5-6 sh3 careers and havent finished one because of me messing up sh3 core files and having to reinstall. then using differant mods and not deleting left over files, etc, and ruining installs etc

I guess we all had this type of moments...:D I think I could have a couple of pages near the PC written with things I should never do again... I did use that when I started playing Combat Mission a few years ago, since it's a turn based game, you have time to have a look before planning your next moves.

Der Alte in Das Boot has many such moments. Well, not involving a mewling infant, but there was this destroyer he was going to take head on during a storm . . .

So from sabotage to aircraft to the invention of radar to having a diaper emergency, the life of a Kaleun is very unpredictable.

We only sink about 3% of total available tonnage during the war. Another convoy will be along shortly.

Ah, happy times :D

I don't have any kids, but dishes do the job too! That is, when one has pressed 'd' two minutes before that.

"Clobber, clobber, yeah... 180 meters is fine. Ah, that's the dishes, now for these cups...and back to sea..."

Well, I heard the bolts breaking but that was the last thing this kaleun heard :rotfl:

I should have known when Bernard used multiple cups and plates the night before...
