Time compression facts:
1.the noobest saying -I DONT HAVE THE TIME- duh whats the diffence if you play for 2/3 hours at 1x or 1024x-its still 2/3 hours
1.missing ships/planes/whole convoys/sound contacs/cool ass sunrise and sunsets etc.
2.This sim deserves more than zippin around in circles untill your lucky enough to ram somthin ((if tc didnt drop auto you would))
3.running into frienldly/nuetral ships -well tc didnt turn red so i'll keep goin-NOOOBISH!!!-1X YA JUST CANT TELL WHO IS WHO till ya see a flag or get shot at

I love the fact sh3 is a diffrent game at 1x not like sh2 where it really didnt matter makes this sim a true sim I feel sorry for you guys that TC your really missin it grant you the first and last 700nm of a patrol can be a total bore = but ts worth it!! there are some weather issues also with 1x but those can be ironed out--------:arrgh!: yes i am tryin to get more 1x skippers :arrgh!:

Point is theres hardly anyone out there with a patience and the time to go a 1x... It takes about 2 hours to leave wilhelmshaven on 1x. There just arnt enough hours in the day to play 1x on SH3

and ofcourse there is a SAVE/LOAD function but not everyone can trust the installation for not screwing it up! so ofcourse people use TC to get from A to B (To prevent that the Save / Load bug will screw up their carreer) and they are not noobs. so I dont know whats up in ur mind.

Rock on with your 1X patrols. I think it's great you (and many others) enjoy them. For me, I primarily enjoy the hunting aspects of the game, rather than the traveling, so I will continue to use TC.

Bearing in mind we are currently beta testing a few 'goodies' for the next GWX update (no elitist attitude intended or implied) ...how about if we carried out this function at x1 TC to prove to ourselves we aren't really 'noobs' but more akin to a bunch of people just trying their level best to give every sib simmer a better more equitable chance of enjoying the game:hmm:
Although that would mean a xmas 2007 release I suppose which in effect would make some of us look like 'noobs' :damn:

Well,I believe,that playing SH3 without TC can be enjoyable for hard-core kaleuns,but no matter how realistic SH3+GWX is - it's still the PC game,so I want to play it.Sometimes sailing 3 days and meet ZERO (don't mean that jap.plane:rotfl: ).Without TC it would be the same bore like fishing simulation or something like that.Don't think,that for example radio messages are missing with TC - I spent 22 days on my first patrol and received more than 50 of them.Same with convoys,planes,ships - everything is there even with 1024x - that's my experience.I went through La Manche - I thought I've already made it so I've pressed 1024x and few minutes later two Hurricanes were approaching and the good thing is,that the game automaticly switch the TC off when there is some engagement.And yes - even with TC off it's not 100% simulation.But I agree,that there are some people who are probably absolutely satisfied when they don't meet ANYTHING for three,four days........:doh:

Funny: i'm not playing 1x and my patrols last for 5 (short range usually in 1939 - 1940)
- 10 hours (long range). And I AM using 1024x TC (when needed). Second: my patrols last for 30 - 45 ingame days (sometimes longer) - so if i would want to play in real time then i must sacrifice at least one month of my life - there are some reasons why i wont do that...

About missing ships/konvoys: ive done 9 patrols in my current career so far and 3 of them were 100k patrols...( GWX 1.02 80% realism - DudTorpedoes=false, NoWeaponOfficerAssist=false).

Don' really have a prob with the "Time Comp" I set it all up in "SH3Cmdr" If I need to go slow because of certain events the game will etc. I spend around 2-3 hours for one patrol. I don't see a prob with that.

I got my own thoughts on people who use Leet speak but I'm not going to publicise them in this forum.

Surely the whole reason we fought WWII was to allow freedom of expresion and thought. Each to their own, live and let live etc.

I've got a job, a family, other hobbies (gasp!), and a drink problem:up: to fit in to my life along with SH3 so 1xTc is no go for me.

On a related subject do you guys know of anyone who has done a TRUE 1 xTC patrol. Meaning they never turn off the computer, eat food of dwindling quality and don't wash for a month. I bet there is someone somewhere.

I think if i played SH3 at 1x my wife would be forced to kill me and ive been in the navy got the t shirt etc. So if it kills some time to 1024 it well so be it if you have enough time to 1x fire in i wish when i was on subs i could have hit 1024x would have made patrols go so much quicker mind you each to there own but people dont like being called noobs ive been sub simming it for over 20 years:up:

1- I use compressed time so i can go to long range patrols with my IX boat to caribbean os U.S coast, one patrol could take one week ( i only play when i have time, usually weekend )Playing 1x time could mean a patrol for two or three months :nope: .
i like playing, not use sh3 as a screen saver.

If i want to see a Sunrise or sunset i only have to see the clock hour in the bottom of the screen.

2- My watch crew is in the bridge, so they inform me when they detect something
(tc drop) or identify targets (red icon)

3- you can detect planes running at 128 or 256

4- you can do hidrophone checks at some hours, so use the clock in the bottom of the screen again.

Noobish or expert is question of how is a convoy attack, correct tactics, use of manual tdc and plotting, and finally scorts evasion, nor about the use or not of the TC compression , :shifty: :nope:

And, by the way... Codmander, how about 1x patrol on Indian Ocean with a IXD2? The last one I`ve made lasted nearly 200 ingame days. Want to take this one with 1x too ? Frankly telling I somehow doubt it :cool:

Besides I guess not everyone is so lucky to have enough time for 1x ...

Because I can get 2-3 patrols in in those 2-3 hours, and still hit the parts I find exciting. Just becaues I feel no need to sit and stare at a PC monitor watching the wave go by (if I want that, I'll drive down to the coast) doesn't make me any less of a U-boat enthusiast... perhaps just a smarter one. (I even jacked up the TC to 2048, if you really must know)

Oh and if you love realism so much after you die from depthcharging in the atlantic get a bunch of barrels and a large fridge after you frosted the firdge for a while step inside it then get someone to push you into the water while a few other people chuck explosive barrels at you so you can't just reload. Oh and make sure you get a few people firing some random bullets at you. Then to simulate sinking and going too deep you want to buy a large compressing machine and stick yourself in the middle then get it to crush the fridge while your still inside. Tada full realism.
