I was wondering what would happen if I put myself in a spot where history was about to embark so I headed to May 1941 to Gotenhafen(Gdynia). When I arrived their she was the CA Prinz Eugen awaiting for the arrival of The Bismark so I pulled along side her and let the days go bye then she came big as ever in my tiny submarine and positioned herself beside me putting me in the middle of the two of them. I was so proud to be there. I am going to let the days roll by cause on May 19, 1941 Escorted by the destoryers Z23, Z24, Hans Lody, Friedrich Eckoldt and the 5th M-Flotilla, Bismark and CA Prinz Eugen leave Gotenhafen(Gdynia) for commerce raiding in the North Atlantic.
I am going to follow them I will let you know if it all works out and see if you can follow history in SHIII. :arrgh!:

Your in for a great time..........
If you can keep up:rotfl:
My boat can't won't do 25+ knots
GWX does follow history in this case, Bismark and co will sail up north, then west past the southern coast of Iceland, then onto the Denmark Straights. Bismark will sink HMS Hood (unless you beat it there and do the job). But then Bismark will sink it again anyway as it respawns! If your really lucky you will get the opertunity to sink the taskforce sent after Bismark (I sank it twice in the same mission), but in the end Bismark will make it's final voyage to Davy Jones locker somewhere around BE31 as the taskforce respawns also.
I'm not writing this as a spoiler, I really had fun following history being made (and racked up an awesome tonnage) just be prepared for the fact that SHIII will not let you alter history.
Now as for the pleasure cruise Adolf takes on the Baltic from Gdansk in June 1942, thats another matter. Schooners really do fly when hit by a torpedo:rotfl:

An another piece of early war history that is fantastic to watch is the BEF evacuation from Dunkirk. There is a simply huge amount of shipping that needs sinking and regular squadron sized raids from Goerings boys. Excellent eye candy although the Luftwaffe get shot down like grouse in season and one nearly crashed onto my submerged boat!

I'm not ashamed I'm gonna kind of hijack this thread.
Have any Kaleuns out there been witness to historical events/battles whilst playing GWX ?

I'd love to see Battle Of Taranto in the GWX.

Excellent Narvik pics. I may have to start another career so I can go backwards in time and take part.

Actualy it s not that easy to be one the good spot at the good time (well... you can always be there 3 weeks ahead and wait for the event...).
I m in my third career, and first on type IX. I m in base before mission april the 5th 1940 so I should be in the narvik canal by april 9th (even if I have to cruise full speed!) and hope to have a nice spectacle to watch :)
I think I m gonna add some mod before playing it... maybe hollywood one to see impressive damage :) and I m gonna reduce realism to use external cam (always playing 100% realism).
I dunno what I m gonna try to do though... excepted the Warspite, Narvick battles are mainly destroyer battles. It s not really interesting to sink and it s quite dangerous ;) But by spectating the battles the 10th and the 13th, I can be in vagsfjord the 15th for the allied landing. Battleship Valiant, light cruiser Southampton and some other cruiser and even ocean liner and troop transport... if I can t get a nice shot on Warspite the 13th, I m gonna save my 21 fishes for the 15th's fiesta:arrgh!:
