Without trying to be pedantic I think the reason why you see the moon larger is because it's much closer to the earth than the sun, and because it's on a different azimuthial angle (lower in the horizon basically). As far as smaller moons I haven't seen any specially made for GWX so I would suggest you get any one you like from http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/. Just make sure you enable it using JSGME to be on the safe side:up:

On the plus side, that big moon makes for some very dramatic screenshots.;)

I like the big moon. Of course, hardly ever get to see it. Bloody weather. :damn:

When I saw the large moon on a GWX patrol last night I thought, "man that is awesome." It does actually look like that depending on time of year, time of month etc, so I don't know why you'd want to change it. It is smaller at various other times.

The sun and the moon have the same sizes, when seen from Earth. During a solar eclipse the moon fits almost exactly over the sun, when seen from the right spots on Earth.

In reality the sun is a very much bigger space object than the moon or the Earth. But in GWX it looks very nice with the big moon on the night sky.

P.s. and OT: There's a lunar eclipse tonite visible IIRC from Eastern NA at sunset and
in full over Europe and Africa...

I've been on many deployments (two different aircraft carriers and a few cruise ships) where the moon seemed to cover a quarter of the ocean. I'm not into astronomy, but there you have it. I know what I've seen regardless.
