I'd hold on to your horses if I were you. Gaming software in general has a habit of being late...
Now, when they announce that the game has gone gold, *that'll* be the time I start doing the *happy-happy-joy-joy* dance. :)

Tough to say if you can run it well or not since none of us know for sure. But I have a very strong feeling that after release there is going to be a massive flood of people on this site that are having problems running this game smoothly, even on the later 7 series GeForce cards. I also have a strong feeling that the only people not complaining about running the game at decent setting will be the ones running the much more powerful GeForce 8800 card and some new dual core proc or something.
This game is such a monster to run that they removed anti-aliasing. That's really saying something about how much this game takes to run. The new high poly water is going to bring even 1 year old machines to their knees I think.

Paint it black, by The Rolling Stones! :D
Seriously, the french guys who made the vid had this machine:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1GB ram and a 7900GT
And it runs well on that, you can see it in the vid, considering fraps eats alot of performance.

If the FSAA can be forced, then it is the same as it was in SH3. Now, who can actually run FSAA with all the other eye-candy going is a whole other story. lol
I for one will be turning off the HDR if possible (it's a little too bright for me).

Huh! and i remeber when about to buy Silent Hunter II, it said 8mb video card needed on the box i freaked as at the time i had a 4mb 3dfx Voodoo. So i went out and brought a 16mb TNT card.
I think SHIV will run on mid range PCs okay say - MID SPECS 2.4ghz, 1gig of ram GF5900 - probably slightly lower specs might even manage it. And providing they turn down most graphic options to low/medium.:hmm:
My PC specs is mid range:
2.6ghz
2 gig ram
GF6800
If she refuses to run on that I'll eat my hat and probably cry  :D

I wouldn't be counting the days if I were you. Computer games have a bad habit of not coming out on time.
Hey, don't get me wrong. I hope it comes out on time, too. I'm just not planning my life around it and setting myself up for a big disappointment....

I just found out it can't be turned off in-game. Looks like some config. edits are gonna be in order. lol

Dont worry it wont take much to run.... Id say as long as you have a gig of ram and a geforce 6600 or higher you will be more then fine
Also Amazon UK are saying release date will be the 23rd which has really thrown me :o

The source where I got the release date...
GOD I hope I have enough power in my processor to handle the game. Its not the graphics its the bottleneck that will slow you down to render and play the game smoothly.
