Adobe Photoshop plans to go online to go up against Google's Picasa
offering it's services for free, paid for by web advertising.

Notice they say it will be a low quality version.

Not sure why people mess around with Photoshop when you have alternatives that are free like The Gimp:

Actually, in overall feature set, Photoshop is still more powerful than GIMP. Especially important to the pros is a "true" CMYK painting space and colormatching so the limits of CMYK for a particular printer can be projected more accurately.

Still, for most users GIMP is plenty powerful enough.

Besides, most people know that with a search engine, Photoshop can be had for free, at only mninimal risk... :D

I guess if you print a lot, that could be useful. For recreating menu's for DVD Authoring, The Gimp has everything you'll ever need! Price is good too, and you won't have the PC police knocking on your door if you decide to use it. MS and Adobe may still show up though and find some excuse to fine you over using Open Source though!
