Have you guys seen the new versions of the old episodes?

New special effect and cleaner looking but not overdone.

If you get a chance to catch them on TV in your local area, they look great especially compared to other old shows that are updated and ruined. Not this show, it looks so much better now.

I think theses aired shows are what are on the new DVD set.

I compared the updated version on TV with the original versions that I have on the original DVD set and it's amazing how much was done without it looking to obvious.

I hate it. The Computerized graphics dont fit together with the old video of the interior of the enterprise.

Thats how graphics have to be:

Blake's 7 was a bloody awful show thanks to the BBC doing in on the cheap. Well may be the BBC will do a new up to date version and give the budget that Dr Who has now.

Back to STAR TREK I really need to see more clips from other episodes.

This is NOT from the updated version of Trek...this is a fan vid...pretty good, but not the real "McCoy" so to speak.

Hello,

I think Steve nailed it. The new effects were not added to stand out but to make the show look better. Unlike what George Lucas does to his re-releases.

I got hooked on Star Trek 2 years after The Next Generation started. I never liked the original because it looked like a show made on a tight budget (and it was), so it did not have the quality I had grown up with like Star Wars. ST:TNG had what I liked.

These updated versions look so much better to me that I actually enjoy them now. I had to compare the old with the new versions just to see what changed to make them better.

They're all right. Look a little nicer but if you've seen them once...

What's even better is this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eBXal1GAA4A&mode=related&search=), especially if you're familiar with the "Cribs" series.

I'll see your Blake's 7 (which despite it's shabby appearence I thouroughly enjoyed as a kid, setting me up for future sci-fi interest) and raise you one Earthsearch (http://www.play.com/Books/AudioBooks/PROD/3-/185367/James_Follett_Earthsearch_The_Complete_Radio_Serie s_1_2/Product.html)

Id like to see the entire show.

Maybe if I could see it on TV and not on youtube the quality would be better.

It's beautifull. Doesn't matter if the inside doesn't look as advanced as the outside. It's TOS. With better graphics. That's all that matters!

Can anyone confirm this? No one else seems to think so? :hmm:

Best way to compare, watch it on TV and see if it looks better then you remember it.

1st thing to look for is the opening sequence. Check out the ship. It is now whole. Before, the ship had missing edges on the saucer section due to very very bright spots getting removed in the original editing. you can see this when it flies in front of planets.

2nd thing to look for are the planets. They are no longer swerling colors, they look like real planets now.

3rd, the phasors now shoot at the targets, not off at angles away from targets.

4th, on away mission, look at the back ground. where it was just a single colored lighting effect to show the horizon, you now see a view that looks real.

I never liked the Origonal series because it always looked cheap compaired to other shows and movies I grew up with, now I like it a lot better. Od though, I am no longer a "Trekor"

Note: A "Trekkie" was someone that got into all the trivia and could quote episodes.

I never could get into any Star Trek show that much but I was ok at basic trivia and I went to the Conventions.

OK, I like it....nothing to drastic like Lucas did (Han shot first!!!!! :x ) as long as the story and dialogue are not touched ok.
