Hy,
i was written that problem i experience with GWX could be caused by my Video Card.
I have a P4 3Ghz, 1024Mb RAM.
SHIII with patch 1.4 run very smootly and fluently, no framerate problems.:D

But with GWX installed i have had framerate problems and a critical crash has happened when i was leaving Kiel port.

I have an Asus 9600 128Mb video CARD, does any of You know if this card has some problem with SH3 GWX?

Thank for any suggestion...

Good afternoon. I'm no expert but...

The 9600 card is getting on a bit now, so I guess it will struggle a bit in port. (i had one myself but upgraded about a year ago)

Now if I recall correctly there is a 'Lite harbour traffic Mod' in the JSgme folder in your sh3 folder which should reduce the amount of traffic and enable your system to cope with the requirements.

Hope this helps you.

try installing lite harbor trafic that came with GWX
(via JSGME(?))
that might fix framerate problems

Try using the Lite Harbour Traffic Mod that is included with GWX.

GWX has mad nay improvements to harbour life, including better harbour textures & more shipping.

I could run GW with a ATI 9600 128mb card (no bells version) and maintain 15-25 fps while in port. This was with all AA & AF options off. There should be no reason for you to strugle with GWX as GW was more of a strain to your system.

If you think memory might be your problem then increase your pagefile size (aka virtual RAM) it might help.

FYI - Kiel is the busiest port in GWX, get it sorted here and you'll be alright for the others.

This critical crash, was it "Silent Hunter has encounter a critical error and needs to close?".

Please tell us if you were leaving Kiel at TC and whereabouts this happened.

IIRC, I experienced this a long time ago. It was caused by a collision with a ship or a mine/subnet while at TC. The game can't process the fact that you collided with something and just boots you out.:yep:

Crash happened moving mouse-View in External View...
it seem that my Video Card took much time to refresh any new object i'm going to view and moving mouse around too fast my Vide card had a critical problem...

Can it be?:hmm:

Lite harbour traffic should fix or improve your situation but I can't help feeling that this means you miss out on so much 'eye candy'.
If you experience an improvement by carrying out the above mentioned operation I would recommend you upgrade your card as soon as finances permit :arrgh!:

Hello everyone,First post and I have to say I'm having the same problems, stuttering framerate when leaving port and on the map page when at high TC settings, and 2 microsoft errors crashes while in a mission:cry: I'm running a pentium P4 3.06 Ghz,1000Mb x2 Ram,Radeon X700 256Mb card and all that is installed is SH3+GWX.

The card is a little on the low side but you should still be able to run GWX.

You are going to get stuttering at high TC (512 to 1024) with your system because SH3 is tracking & loading ships & planes beyond your visual range. You'll notice this the most in the north sea.

As for the crashes at high TC, this can be explained by the fact that you are probably colliding with a ship or have been attacked by a plane and sustained damage. SH3 can't knock you out of TC fast enough to register the damage and therefore dumps you to the desktop.

There are 2 possible solutions to this....
1)Adjust your sound card acceleration, either by dxdiag or through the audio properties in your control panel.
2)Increase your pagefile (aka virtual RAM)

No.1 is your best bet as you have enough RAM installed.:yep:

Just be carefull with high TC for two reasons, the first I've already mentioned, the second, well you are missing so much traffic while at high TC. Always try to reduce your TC in areas where you suspect shipping or aircraft.

Welcome to Subsim. :sunny:

Cheers for that, and thanks for the welcomes;) I've been lurking for months and trying to learn as much as I can, such a great site,I'm bloody obssesed with this game:rock: I was wondering, can I run 2 seperate careers,I mean 2 different game saves,If I start a new one it won't erase my old one as long as they have different names, cause I started with a vanilla SH3 and moved to the french ports and then got the amazing GWX +patch 1.04 ,which has totally changed everything and I'd like to start a seperate career from the very beginning with GWX in a TYPE 2 out of Kiel:yep:

Your Vanilla SH3 saves are NOT compatible with GWX and visa versa.

The only way around this is have dual installs of SH3. One as Vanilla and one as GWX.

There is a handy program for doing this, it's called MultiSH3 and you will find it with a forum search. It lets you tell each intallation where to save your career patrols and comes with a concise readme telling you how accomplish a dual install.

However, I can promise you once you are used to GWX you will never want to go back to Vanilla.:yep:

You can have as many career saves as you want. Just use different captain names and each respective save will be stored under that name.

Danlisa, thats the info I wanted, thank you.I'm afraid I didn't perhaps word my question correctly,I've no intention of going back to the vanilla SH3,GWX has hooked me far to much:up:

I dont go above 128 TC untill Im out of port, also try going submerged with no sonar operator at ahead standard, this cuts down on the interuptions.

256 and above actually goes slower for me...

Thank for any suggestion...

Hi.

It looks like you install 16km atmosphere mod? Did you?
This mod slows frame rates much. I know about it because I use R 8500 graphic card.
