Prince Charles says ban McDonald's food (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070228/ap_on_re_eu/britain_charles;_ylt=Atih5Jn0jk_QF_Yfwo4UlLOs0NUE) .
In response, I suggest MickeyDee put out a new burger, called the MaCamilla, made from 100% horse meat.
EDIT: That's not to say that the Prince is totally off course (in this case). As an example, here, have an Angioplasta (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070227/od_nm/restaurants_calories1_dc;_ylt=Al8NB02J0i6KFk98VSbN FAoZ.3QA)!

I would be happy if McD's & Burger King were both removed from the UK. For me their food is too expensive and of a not very high quality.:yep:
If you want a proper burger and you ever happen to be in the vicinity of Plymouth (UK) pop down to the Barbican and visit Captain Jasper's. Excellent food, reasonably priced.

(enough of that)
McD's & Burger King - all too often I see families piling into these establishments for Sunday Lunch:o, what ever happed to family meals at home.
Do these types of establishment contribute to the current obesity problems faced by so many youngsters (& adults):hmm:
If McD's go, I for one will not miss them.
Bit of a gaf by Charlie though.:rotfl:

Seems like Charlie boy has taken a leaf out of his Pa.
Remember when the Duke went to China some years ago and said to some of the westerners there that if they stayed there long enough they would get slitty eyes.
Didn't go down to well with the Chinese.

I think you can blame Sunday trading for this.

Most probably.
If McD's go, I for one will not miss them.
But a lot of other people surely will.

In my view the Royal Family have become an embarrassment anyway and they should all be put out to grass.

Looking at that sad and sorry image of the Big Mac reminds me of a scene from the film Falling Down when Michael Douglas walks into the Wammy Burger restaurant.

That's amazing...and depressing. However, it doesn't account for the french fries that most people eat with a Big Mac.

I don't think the prince mentioned the fries, only the big mac.

Mickey D's is nasty food. It is cheap here in the States but hell I do not eat that crap. For $5.00 over what I pay at McDonald's I can have a sit down decent meal at a far better establishment. Not to mention the service there is dreadfully awfully at best. The restrooms are gross. The restuarants themselves dirty. You never get what you ordered and when you do get it, the food is cold.

Taco Bell is even worse. I have yet to be in one of their places that wasn't down right dirty from the floor to the table tops.

I think we should limit the advertising of these companies and maybe even tax it like we do with tobacco. Point being to protect our childrens health. Better option would be that the companies would start developing healthier meals for their restaurants. I dont know if that will happen, but our countries cant afford the cost of this problem. I personally like to cook and try new things, my favourite kitchen is Italian. Im getting annoyed that most of the girls i meet cant cook at all, and like to eat this type of ****.

Iīve heard several times that especially poor people in the US like McD because itīs cheap and they often canīt afford to buy non-processed food from a supermarket. Is that true?
A Big Mac costs $3.20, right? I guess I would need to spend at least $5 to fill me up at McD, and Iīm an average eater.
For $5 (€3.80) I can easily make a dinner for three, by using less expensive meat like chicken/turkey legs, pork or a mixture of ground beef and ground pork, plus rice, pasta or potatoes and some frozen spinach/carrots/peas/whatever or some fresh seasonal veggies. Or for $5 I could make a big pot of soup (potato, lentil, pea or some other legumes) and feed five or six people with that.
Now my question, are there parts in the US where the staple prices are so extraordinarily high that itīs cheaper for some people to go to McD than to buy fresh food and cook at home?

The general rule of thumb is that poor families most often do not know how to manage their finances. I see this very often here in Israel, where there is a tremendous amount of poverty. Here's a local organization we support that tries to help: Pa'amonim (http://www.paamonim.com/eng/html/) (means "bells" in Hebrew).

Advertising of fast food on TV is being looked at in the UK by Ofcom. It is proposed that there should be no advertising of fast food products before 9pm. Not sure if the tax angle is the way forward, in the UK we are already taxed on most things (fast food at 17.5%) so heaping on more tax will be very unwelcome by the UK population. As for healthier meals in fast food outlets, this probably would not be in the interests of the fast food companies because lets face it, all food that is bad for you tends to taste much nicer than food thats good for you.

Luckily where i live their is no Mcdonalds/KFC/Burger King or anyother fast food outlet, we have to travel out of town if we want that crap. I admitt whenever i do though i head straight for McDonalds and have 3 big macs but cause its only like twice a year then its okay. But theirs something about that food it makes you just want more. Im glad we dont have it in our town otherwise i would probably be obese. lol

You are correct! Some families eat at McNasties regularly but again, if they would spend $5.00 above what was spent at McNasties they could eat at a nicer restuarant and with better food. Furthermore, these folks gain weight and get obese, they then attempt to sue McNasities for for obesity and their failure to obtain better food or eating healthier. It boils down to pure laziness. My wife can feed a family of 4 for an entire week for $150.00. Three meals a day and all four food groups with every meal.

Yep, doesnīt cost much. A home-made cheeseburger of the size of a Whopper costs about a third of what I would pay at Burger King.
It boils down to pure laziness.
That, and there are quite a few that donīt know how to cook. As itīs impossible to forbid people to be lazy itīs kinda pointless to ban McD or BK. People will go to other places where they can eat inexpensive and potentionally unhealthy food.
