This is very encouraging, especially after the beta tester, yesterday,
said it wasn't ready yet.

To be honest, as much as I'm anticipating SH4 being released, I wouldn't lose any sleep if Ubi announced a release delay--if it meant we'd get a more polished product in the end.

I agree Flintlock...............

Delays are never bad things, as long as the product is released in the end (unlike poor old Stars! Supernova Genesis, for example:cry:).

Silent Hunter 4 is going to be so awesome.

SH3 was released in fairly good shape. I see no reason for this to be any different. Did the next video come out? Seems like Neil hyped it up quite a while ago ... still not here?

Here's the most recent dev diary, though it's not in the normal video form.
It's at the bottom of the page.

...all that we've seen of it thus far points to the fact that this will be a watery ride!

Ugh :88)

Is it too much to ask for a review that is written by someone who, I don't know, can actually write something of substance? Seriously, every game "review" I come across nowadays appears to be typed by gushing twelve year old fan boy.

Are there no professionals working in this field? If no professionals, would someone who isn't willing to prostitute themselves writing favourable reviews just to continue receiving free games please show themselves!

I'd be happy to do a little review at release. I did one for IL-2 back when it first came out, but the website I was working for didn't want to post it because it was too "in-depth" (6-8 pages...probably the last time I'll ever wirte a review that long too. lol). Not to mention, it should be pretty evidient by now I don't exactly "cater" to software companies. lol I like to think I pretty much call it like I see it, rather than how it is meant to be seen.

Don't think you are correct here. MSGalileo, who posting the shots stated that the build they had - which was missing some key functionality - was received last week. Then another poster grandly claimed - "well then the code is far from ready". That was simply his interpretation based on a version that could have been weeks older than the current build. Then, in another post, he stated,

people testing SH4 at JVideo are not fan of naval simulation, they just want to have fun, show beautifull screens, better than a periscopic view

So...they are not part of the beta group and are using a demo copy that could be - and probably is - weeks older than the latest version.

Er no? It is all about delivering readers to the advertisers.

Man, what a cheesy article... Poor writing and despite his claims to be a sub-sim vet, this guy sees to know nothing about WWII subs plus makes no useful comparisons between SHIV and any previous sub-sim.

He said their version is from last week, so how many builds have come out since last week? I am guessing not many if any.

Getting sort of close to release to start sending out new beta builds isn't it, Ubisoft? lol

I still don't think this game is coming out this month. I hope I am proved wrong though. :)

Which is precisely why I bought all the games I reviewed, and reviewed all the games I bought...for free.

I said whatever I wanted about the games. If they didn't like what I said, they could go pound sand.

He stated that they received it last week - not that the version was dated as of last week - two VERY different things. I'm deducing that this version is the same one that Neal saw, the same one that the German Martime site saw and the same one that the guy who wrote this review saw. And this version is some months old.

Trust me - if the game were to be delayed we would have heard by now.

That's true, however if it's going to meet the March 13th release date we'd need to have a "Gone Gold" announcement here by early next week at the latest. We are now at that uncomfortable time where it could go either way.

He said they had version 1.0.0.1. That must be pretty close to RC status if their number system is like anybody elses with regards to builds.

I would suspect you are totally correct though. I would seriously be amazed if MP and some of the other features weren't part of the most current build yet.

I have always felt it should be delayed until it is right.
I would prefer the fall (please let that not be the case:hmm: ) over half done and waiting for a patch.

Been there done that way too often.

Frankly, I intend to let some of you get it and go through the paid for beta testing before I buy it watching your post until the bugs have been exterminated.

Well, my excise is I am making CFS3-MAW my top priority to get that done and released and that is likely April-May so also could not stand the desire to be in a US sub.

Life is so hard. Between the gun club / Mauser restorations, CFS3-MAW, GWX I am just over worked with playing.:rotfl: Trying to fit SH4 is impossible so I will wait until the MAW project is released.

How I suffer!

If they were going to delay the grand premiere from March 16th and March 22nd UK why would they be sending out a demo last week?

That means going Gold is March 2nd, which is this friday and Gold for Ubisoft has always been game two weeks later ... March 16th.

Beta is beta and a demo is a demo, two different things and they sure didn't mail it to just one reviewer ...

Plus that was an online review, magazine dead lines are even longer.

I'm on lookout for soon and very soon ... at least a demo for us too in March ...

After it goes Gold it becomes party time ...

There won't be a demo for us. One of the Devs said so in the "Ask the Devs" thread at the official forums.
