I downloaded GWX 102 from Jimbuna's link. It all went into a Word doc. What do I do now?

Is Jims one a RAR ?
Try changing the file ext
GWX1.02.doc to GWX1.02.rar
Not sure on the actual filename but you get the idea
It is a rar --but this word document is unmanageable--I'm gonna try to delete it
Now my computer won't let me go into any of the webpages, seems that all links been disabled, does anyone know how to fix this? :damn:

Try clicking either on my signature or on the link under it to get all the files you need. If it doesn't work tell me and we'll sort out something.
Thanks , Mel,
Downloaded again and got it onto the desktop. It looks like a Word doc. but says it's a RAR file.
Being a computer incompetent, I don't know what to do next (still have the D/L dialogue box with options Open --Open Folder --Close

Once the installation is finished click on close. After that right-click on the file and use the option Open with. In the pop up window click on WinRar and the program will open the file automatically. If you need more help or info just shout;)
Ok, got the file converted into a pile of books --right clicked, chose extract to GWX120, it did something quick -- is that it?
Big thanks to Bigboywooly and Melbonian for your assistance to this dolt. I launched onto a new patrol, I must have the new patch installed ok, things do look a bit different (better).
Is the little white submarine in the SHIII logo the identifying thingie for the 1.2 GWX patch?

No, the noticable "v1.02" text on the loading screen (under the word "Expansion") you would have stared at for 40 odd seconds whilst egging the red bar on is the give-away. ;)

 the v1.o2 doesn't show. Returned to port. Now what do I do? I have The file with the pile of books, (GWX102), a file folder (GWX102) a WRAR 362.

Aologies for the delay Brag but I'm a little tied up at work now :yep:
Sooooooooooo rather belatedly, the GWX 102 file is a rar (but you obviously realise that now) and the answer was to right click blah blah blah :yep:
Glad your sorted thus far mate
Edit:
Have you followed these steps ?
Installation
Before installing:
- DISABLE all activated modifications if you use the "Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler" (JSGME). You cannot use JSGME to install GWX Patch 1.02, but you can use JSGME to activate other modifications after GWX Patch 1.02 is installed.
- REMOVE any installed SH3 Commander files (if you use "SH3 Commander") by pressing the "Rollback SH3" button from within SH3 Commander.
- ENSURE your active careers are all safely docked in port!
It is important that you follow these steps as the installer will look for SH3 Commander and JSGME files and will halt if any are found. Likewise the installer will halt if it does not find certain key GWX files.
After installing:
GWX Patch 1.02 includes all individual GWX fixes released to date. You do not need to re-install any previous GWX patch or hotfix after patch 1.02. Indeed, this patch will delete from JSGME any previous patches or hotfixes that it finds.
Please note that the GWX Manual has been updated. Take the time to review the manual before posting questions. For your convenience, a printer friendly version of the GWX 1.02 Manual can be viewed on-line at http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX...NUAL_EN_PF.pdf (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/GWX_MANUAL_EN_PF.pdf)
Great!
I only have SHIII, GWX with DEC Patch. And I'm in Port.
I right clicked and extracted to GWX102
but this did not load (the v thingie doesn't show under the expansion screen)
I am obviously missing a step here :damn:

If you have d/l a RAR file you now need to extract it. Right-Click on the archive and choose 'extract here', this should place the GWX 1.02 Patch.exe file in the same folder as the archive. Now just run the exe and it should patch.
Not sure why it came to you as a RAR though.:hmm:
To solve your problem with the archives being labelled as a .doc file, open WINRAR and find the options/preferences menu and look for 'file association' or 'file types' and make sure that the following are ticked..../.zip/.7z/.rar. These are the most common archive formats and should be all you need.

Don't worry about it mate. We all do stupid mistakes like these. So once you have the executable file (GWX 1.02.exe) in your desktop or in any other folder you want just double click on it. That will run the file and bring up the installer's Navigation Window. After that you just need to follow the instructions.
One last thing. In order to install GWX 1.02 you MUST have a CLEAN copy of GWX. That means:
1. Be at Port
2. Rollback Sh3Cmd
3. Disable ALL mods via JSGME
4. Replace ALL files you have changes (like Cfg for renown and stuff)
that way the installer will run fine. The only thing you need to do in the Installation is to guide the installer to the GWX directory. That means you need to browse through your system and find it (in the little icon in the installation window). It's easy don't worry about it.
Good Luck, and obviously if you need more info give us a shout (or a PM if you like:up: )
Eurika!!
:D I double clicked (though exec label was missing) and voila, the installer came on and easy as peach.
Patch is in and everything working fine.
After returning to port BDU gave me an iron cross for bothering everyone.
Many thanks to Bigboywolly, Jimbuna, Melbonian, Jscones and Danlisa.   you're all great buddies.
Now, the rotating RDF antenna drives me nutz. Life is rough.
All the helpers can now go back to work, patrol or whatever. I will also start my day with the annoying things that have nothing to do with sinking Tommies.

If the Rotating antenna is not to your liking you can try using this optional mod by ref http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=106389
