I am curious if there is anyway to turn off kill confirmation messages in GWX? I am playing at 100% realism (or trying to, I should say) and I find recieving "NA: She's going down!" before I see or hear anything happen, somewhat detracting. Is there any way to turn them off?

Thanks

I hope not, I love that message, as much as I enjoy the realistic factor, I also love the whole point of it being a fun game to play

Actually, that message is rather important.

How would you feel if you put 2-3 torps into a tanker and sailed away thinking that the ship was sinking only to find that you weren't credited for it.

You need to receive this message to know 100% that you will get credit for it.

If you still want to get rid of this message then you can comment it out of the correct cfg file. Someone will have to let you know which cfg it is as I'm currently experiencing a brain block.:88)

Perhaps I worded my initial message wrong, I don't have a problem with the message itself but rather when it is displayed. It just seems odd that I get told "NA: She's going down!" and the merchant sits there for literally 6-7 minutes, and then finally starts taking on water and slowly begins submerging. Are the men on board the submarine phychic? There was no loud hull implosion, how do they know the ship is sinking?

Ah, then what you want might be hardcoded. The message you receive is triggered when the target looses it's 'hit' points.

So, when you torp a ship/compartment that area has a designated amout of hit points, when these are depleted, the ship will sink.(thus giving the msg)

However, since the advent of the supermods we have been lucky enough to have ships sink by flooding, which takes time.

Choices are, ships sink quickly (unrealistic SH3 Stock) or ships sink by random means (more realistic & slowly in supermods).

I'm affraid this is the limitation of the SH3 Engine which we can't change.

I've simply taken the viewpoint that what's happening in the sound man starts hearing sounds indicative of a mortally wounded vessel and is reporting that he hears noises of it starting to sink. Not sure how real that actually is, but it helps me not feel as if I'm being 'arcaded'.
