I downloaded patch 1.02 last friday and installed it afetr I reutrned to base from my 4th patrol yesterday. Thanks to the modders

After the installation, which was a breeze, I left for my 5th patrol right away. I'm assigned to grid DH 77 ... man that's a looong way to go.
First thing I noticed as I was leaving the dock at wilhelmshaven was there's a big ring or circle right there on the right corner of my boat's bridge. What is that?

I haven't reached my assigned patrol area yet, I just passed north of Stornoway, and have 7 torps left. Tonnage is around 46 k tonne. I sank one large merchant and one small merchant using a deck gun. I don't remember how many shells it took to sink the two ships, but I still have 95 shells left.

I had to use the deck gun cause the sea was calm, I just couldn't help it :D I'd been in situations where the sea was rough and no way I could use the deck gun ... so, since the sea was calm ...Aim for the waterline.

I also haven'ty played at 100% realism. Currently I'm at 82% realism. Still haven't ticked the Wo assistant, the manual targeting and the realistic ship sinking time.

If I ticked the "realistic ship sinking time" , or turn on the realistick sinking time option, how long wil it take for a ship to sink after I hit it? Will I have to stay nearby when it sinks to get credit/renown?

Thanks,

Morts

about the "big circle" look here http://www.uboat.net/articles/id/51
its basicly just a radio direction finder for the uboats (dont think it works in SH3 though)

and for the deck gun try to aim a little bit below the water line (shell will still "fly" a little under water) it will cause a little bit more flodding

and "realistic ship sinking times" just makes ship sinking times longer
and i belive you have to stay in visual to get the renown

hope this helps

I downloaded patch 1.02
Sounds like GWX to me :yep:
It's the DF Antenna.
Realistic sinking time is dependant on how many different compartments you flood. The more the quicker she will go under. :arrgh!:

Thanks guys.

Yes Jimbuna, it's GWX v 1.02

I will try "no WO assistance" first. IIRC, I never use WO assistance anyway. Whenever I find a taget, I always do the aiming and hit the firing button myself, although still not manual targeting. I never ask my WO (by clicking the WO picture on the bottom left of the screen) to find the target, or do the solution or other stuffs. Clicking WO picture and tell him to find the taget and do the solution is "WO assistance" right?

I dunno, but this "zooming" stuff seems to be quite useful. Should it be made a sticky thread? It took me weeks of navigatin´trough the threads to find this info...
