 Installed my new ABIT AB9 Pro motherboard, 2GB DDR2 Ram and Core2Duo E6600 today, but I`m having problems all over the place.

When I install the chipset driver all my USB-connectors stop working when I restart. This is a disaster, considering I really need USB!

I tried downloading a newer chipset-driver then the one on the cd from ABIT but same problem.

Without the chipset driver all the USB works, but one of course need a chipset driver.

I have reinstalled Windows THREE times today, and I am loosing my mind.

Stabiz, considering sailing through Der Kanal on his blasted pc.

Sounds like a BIOS thing . I dont do bios . I had to take my case to a computer shop and they installed everything for around $50 . Norway to brisbane is a bit of a trip though, you might need to find a shop closer .

No worries, sober! YOU ARE RIGHT!

I changed some USB settings in the BIOS (damn, I hate you, BIOS), and voila! Err ... no, the cpomputer totally freezed up when I was writing a message here, dont recall where and why.:rotfl:

So, I started the tedious process of finding where it went wrong, and I finally narrowed it down to my Audigy soundcard. I removed it, and installed the onboard realtek-thingy and cleared the cmos.

Just loaded up SH3 to see whats up, and boy! The first loading took below ten seconds, the mission load 1.55 (yes, I clocked it:rotfl:), steady 50fps in port, and between 180 and 270fps at sea. Haha, this is heaven!

2GB DDR2 Ram and Core2Duo E6600 , great choice . What graphics card have you got .

I have the Asus 7950 GT 512MB. It the cheapest of the 7950GT`s, but it gets the job done. I`ll wait with the DX10 stuff for a while, cant wait to see what ATI is working on. (Couldnt afford any new gpu right now either:rotfl:)

I think they say anything above 70-80 fps is unnoticeable for the eye, but the numbers above give you a buffer for slowdowns, so there will never be anything you notice.

Try anything above 30 - that is about the average limit of comprehension that your brain can see. ANything more is just that more - unless acting upon an external source such as fluorecent lighting of which can induce flicker, especially if you fps is around 60 Hz - or if you use a CRT that has a refresh rate of 60 Hz is also very noticeable around flourecent lighting.

One thing to point out is - a FPS of 60 to 80 FPS guarantees that you probably won't drop below 30 FPS as a minimum frame rate, so that can make you artificially think that it is better.

When I go after a vid card, I study the 'minimum' FPS that a particular game gets vs. the average that most sites display. Minimum is a much more real world number on how it will actually perform.

Stabiz, that's great you fixed it, but are you going to put the Audigy sound card back in?

Plus tell me how to clear cmos in case I get the same problem someday ...

Hello, geetrue! Its a small jumper on the motherboard. It is set to normal or something by default, but if you moved it to "clear cmos" for a minute or so, it restores the bios to default. I have never had to do it before with any of the pc`s I have built.

I have not put the Audigy back in yet, I dont dare.:D (But probably will)

Anyway, I encountered a new problem. My dvd-drive used all the cpu juice on one of the cpu cores whenever I put a dvd or cd in it. I installed Mediaval 2, and it took about one hour!:o

I checked the device manager, and the ide settings were right (ultra DMA mode). This almost made me crush the computer. After some googling I discovered that installing raid drivers even if you dont use raid was the trick. And it was.

Man, Plug n` Play my rear tube!

Stay away from ABIT AB9 Pro, people!

It works now, and I am very happy with the performance, but it has been to many problems on the way.

humans can perceive up to 60+ fps.

Stay away from ABIT AB9 Pro, people! Glad to read you got it all sorted in the end. I had been considering this board a while back for my upcoming build (used a few Abit boards in the past). I'm now leaning towards ASUS' Striker Extreme -- though I'm not sure I'm sold on that nForce 680i chipset.

Thanks, mate.

I have only had ABIT mobos, have built four pc`s with them by now, but this one has been a pain.

Great now, though. Just raced at Monza in GTR2 with 61 cars and full details at 1600x1200. :rock:I am in love with the Intel E6600!

No doubt! That's a great little processor.

1600x1200, huh? Is there a widescreen in your future? :)

You will be even more in love with it once you begin to test it's overclocking potential though if you do get rid of the stock Intel cooler.

I don't think anyone who plans to overclock, regardless of how mildly, would do so using a stock CPU cooler. Well, then again....

True, true, but I wont overclock before I know what I`m doing, which I dont.

Oh, the processor is running at 227mhz more than it should, hehe. (Probably the AB9 Pro)
