I've seen The Red Arrows three times now...they are definitely worth funding. This government wasted billions in Iraq for seemingly a lost cause, yet the Red Arrows, one of the few things Britain should be proud of, gets scrapped? I'd like to see how many attend Farnborough next year without them. Another nail in the coffin for this loony government. I personally think Labour have pressed the self-destruct button knowing full well they don't have a chance in hell to win the next election.
What really worries me is, are they stealing money and lining their pockets hoping they can get the money and run without anyone making a fuss because they "...wont be in power soon, anyway."? The "Cash for Honours" scandal showed us they are a dishonest bunch of bestards...I wouldn't be surprised if they did in fact do this. Hate the scumbag politicians even more now.
Disgraceful.
Last year the red arrows had to abandon using there coloured smoke due to the cost of it. Tony Blair will not save them nor will Gordon Brown they will toss the petition in the bin and if your lucky you may get the stock bland answer.
People power is needed and we must over throw this false democracy and reinstate true democracy back in to this country.
Aye, I'm with you with that one Steed, but we live in a culture of apathy...people would rather let someone else guide their lives instead of forging a path for themselves.

And those fat complacent pigs at Westminster will continual to screw us because too many people in this country can not see that these swine don't give a toss. This country is slowly sinking into the hands of the EU.

Linton has a point but really the cost of the Red Arrows wouldn't really help.
They need to offload the Tranch 1 Typhoons, get the Tranche 2 up to Tranche 3 standard and order the tranche three. Then build 8 T-45s CVFs look like they will get the go ahead.
Then the F-35. Have the CTOL as a Tornado replacement and the STOVLE for the RN.
Or just keep the RAF whittled down to the Typhoon, all strike and maritime aircraft to the navy and all helos to the Army, except Navy choppers of course.

I suggest we go to tony blair and throw eggs but hey likely hood of that 0
So next option hire a assasin
or get enough people together to storm number 10 and oust him out
Or vote him out and put pressure on him to resign.
(personaly the 2nd option looks good to me)

And replace him with who? :hmm:
Easy to criticize, not so easy to come up with workable answers that suit everybody - not just ourselves ;)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Blairite and I don't have the answers, I just have to spend all day listening to people bitch/moan/complain about the government, but they never have a credible alternative - unless they're pro-tory, pro-liberal or worse.

Replace him with some one who has a IQ higher than a dead wet gold fish.
That realy shouldnt be too hard as 99.9% of england has a higher IQ than that.
But theres Wales and Cornwall... surely IQs are lower there

There is a way to shake the foundations of Westminster and that is in every council, general or by-election is for this whole country not to vote for the Labour, Conservative and Liberals at all. Vote for someone else and if no other party is standing in your area write on your ballet paper none of the above. We the voter's must show that complacent swine we will not stand for it any longer.
What really gets me, people don't seem to understand that all these MP's work for us not the other way around, people of this country must wake up to this fact and make them work for you, just look and see how much money they are paid another 60% pay rise, come on this is not on.
Want too find out about your MP check this link.

I saw the Red Arrows back in 1993 or 1994 at KDEN (Denver Int'l) before the AD it opened. To be honest I wasn't very impressed. Yes, they flew well and made pretty colors out their back ends, but not outstanding.
The Red Arrows did have some stiff competion that day. A F/A-18 demo, a F-15 demo, a F-117 static display and B-2 fly over. A Canadian jet demo team, I forget their name, and the USAF Thunder Birds. I'd have prefered to see the USN Blue Angels but that was not to be.

Use them for recon or something. They're fast and agile enough. And whilst everyone's dazzled by the pretty smoke and the whoosh sounds, BAM! Tomahawk. :arrgh!:

Why the need to country/county bash in this discussion mate? Anyway, voted.
But theres Wales and Cornwall... surely IQs are lower there Would you like to explain why you think this?I could start mentioning that most australians are descendants of criminals but I will not sink to such a low level.
Just a stupid unfounded accusation based on no real knowledge at all :)
Plus I'm not descended from the criminals, so go right ahead
I got an e-mail earlier...from some guy called Tony Blair ;)
Thank you for signing the petition on the No.10 website calling for the maintenance of the Red Arrows. It is a sign of the place they hold in the national affections that so many people have joined you in signing it - one of the highest numbers since the e-petition service began. That's why I wanted to reply personally. It's also why I am replying before the petition officially closes, in order to reassure people who are clearly concerned.
I am pleased to be able to give you good news. There are no plans to change the funding for the Red Arrows, let alone to disband them.
It is important, of course, that the MOD looks at the full range of its spending plans as part of its routine financial planning, to ensure that taxpayers' money is spent where our Armed Forces most need it. Obviously it is this review which prompted fears that the Red Arrows might be scrapped.
However, like you, the Government recognises just what an important role the Red Arrows play in our national life. As the world's premier aerobatic team, they have thrilled millions of spectators over many years. I was lucky enough to see their extraordinary skills myself only last year at the Farnborough Air Show.
More importantly, the Red Arrows have maintained public support for the Royal Air Force, encouraged recruitment, acted as ambassadors for Britain in the world and promoted British industry for many years. So I am pleased to assure you that this government fully intends to keep the Red Arrows flying.
Thank you for signing this petition, and I hope you get a chance to see the Red Arrows yourself soon.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Blair

All sorted.
People are also forgetting that a large % of the Arrows operating cost is raised themselves through auctions and merchandise sales and the like. They arent 100% funded by the RAF.

"Funding Review" - It's heartening to see this forum's gift for hyperbole and overblown paranoia is still kicking against the invisible *****s. :-?
It's good to see the Arrows being kept. I remember watching them at Farnborough when i was 8, I'd spent all of the boat trip reading Biggles, so I was in the mood :)
Still its good news the funding hasnt changed
....yet
It wont until the next election term anyway.
That email means a big fat zero. Tony Blair is stepping down and the odds look good for Gordon Brown, just wait till Labour wins the next general election as Mr Brown will be on a cost cutting exercise to rake back the money.
You have been warned.

Thanks STEED, we haven't heard this a thousand times.
It was a funding review. See how much goes in, and what you get for it. Everything gets a funding review, because it's taxpayers money.
Let's say the Arrows are heading 2 million over budget, and a funding review is instituted. you'd have exactly the same headline.
Of course this is all lies and spin from the PC Madness PR Machine that the nest of swine-vipers in Westminster spew out 24/7. Welcome to The Village.

The Red Arrows always comes up during a funding review like anything else and always gets through. oy am I getting fed up with people jumping on every headline and making it out to be bigger than it is.
It was the same with the news head line "RAF pilots asked to do suicide attacks" when really it was a hypothetical question asked during training in repsonse to a specific set of circumstances.
