SHIII at its top:which MOD to use?

Hy everyone,
after many months i restart to play SHIII and, as i well remembered, i enjoyed it very much.
I do love this game!
Browsing from site to site i realized many Mods are created and, sincerly, i'm a bit confused...
Till now i played using 1.1 patch but i' m going to update with the latest patch 1.4...
Considering the multitude of Mods, Add-ons...,
which mod do You suggest me in order to have SHIII at its best?
(Ok, i know it's a personal opinion but i would like to get your advice about it;) )

The GWX Super Mod is the Shnitz.

Improves everything in the game. Just be prepared to die, a lot.

Read manuals and documentation for both.

Yes, it wont run on earlier versions of SHIII than 1.4b.

You need - SH3 + 1.4b to use GWX.

GWX patched to GWX 1.02 and SH3 commander. SH3 doesn't get any better than that.

But, having already played 4 missions, can i update to 1.4 patch and install Your suggested Mods (SH3 1.4b + GWX 1.02 + SH3 commander + SH3Gen + SH3 Weather + Torpedo damage Final + Sobers 3D waves) without re-installing SHIII from the beginning?

I'd like to continue with my crew without restarting all from the beginning!
Is it possible?

Well it actually depends on the career that you play. In GWX some old careers generated with other versions of the game might not be compatible. Unfortunatelly the only way to find out is to try. You can also do a dual installation and keep playing your current career in SH3 and a new one in GWX (if you cannot play it in GWX that is).

I would start a new career after swapping to GWX.

To remind you, your copy of SH3 + 1.4b must be totally 'clean' & no mods or file changes left in your installation before adding GWX.

The GWX installer is intelligent in that it will not complete the installation if the requirements are not met. This goes for the 1.02 patch installer aswell.
