Your friendly public service announcement. ;)

The new 7.2 Catalyst reference drivers for Radeon accelerators are now available for all the usual suspects.

I'm always gun-shy when it comes to updating ATI drivers. Thanks for the info but I'm going to wait and check out the forums for the games I play to see if there are any probs.

I upgraded from a Ati radeon X700 to a Sapphire X1600 pro or something like that and when I did ... I uninstalled the drivers with the Ati driver removal tool Max PC had on their monthly CD. Then installed the new drivers from the retail CD included.

I still think I did the right thing, but my computer didn't think so and now I get an error message wtKernal is missing ... I don't know what that means, but the new video card works great and I'm afraid to change anything again.

So I just delete the error message everytime I finish booting ...

wtkernel is used by WildTangent, which is some sort of online gaming channel that many people consider spyware, and has nothing to do with ATI. Why you started getting this error when upgrading your video card is beyond me and seems to be a coincidence.

Spybot Search&Destroy will remove WildTangent for you, as will many other antispyware programs, or you may simply be able to uninstall it from Add/Remove programs.

Or, as you say..."If it ain't broke...":)
