Appreciate the link.

That Adversarial mode sound like a lot of fun.

An excerpt:

In Adversarial mode the server takes the lead of the Japanese convoy. He will have to face a wolfpack of up to 3 American submarines. The convoy leader will have to keep his convoy alive for a period of time or to destroy all the American submarines, while the submarines have to destroy the convoy before that period of time expires. The convoy leader has the possibility to give hints and orders to the escorts from the convoy, making harder for the submarines to destroy the convoy.

The player is free to go where he pleases but our dynamic objective system will make sure he gets sent to participate in those battles or near their area, to see the spectacular action. In addition for Dynamic Campaign we implemented some special objectives like Lifeguard duty, Insertion Commandos, Insertion Spies, Supply Drops and Photo Recon.
1) I wonder if we now get 'go to x to help in battle y' objectives for which we get points? That'd be great! :D

2) Looooove those missions. First I've seen reference to Insertion Spies and Supply Drops and both are awesome additions.

So, while the player doesn’t need to baby-sit the crew anymore – this being a main issue we had with the previous game – he can pay a little attention to it and shape it into a better fighting unit.
Haha, they acknowledged it ;)

reflections, refraction, lighting, cast shadows, transparency of the water, god rays, volumetric fog, impurities on the water, realistic 3D wake ships, 3D interiors
God rays?!?!?
:o:dead:

Like in SH III, we’ll not be able to release a Demo version because of the size of the game. As you know in this title like in previous one we reproduce the terrain for the entire world so only terrain data accounts for 1.4 GB.
Ah, a very good excuse actually. I didn't think of it that way but he's right :yep:

A set period of time to destroy the opponent sucks .

I didn't think of the size issue for the demo either. Yes, that is a good point indeed.

What, you want to spend hours in real time chasing 3 subs in multiplayer? :p

This is very reasonable, plus I imagine the time limit is tweakable by the leader himself. This is very important also, because a multiplayer game where there is no race against time and the advantage of stealth is decidedly on one side (to strike whenever convenient for them) would be unbalanced and outright boring. Also, how would you determine who won? It's either time or distance travelled by convoy, which in tactical terms is the exact same thing. Since it's convoy escort, your job is not to sink all the subs but protect the convoy. If it were a game of hunting group vs. sub, then it wouldn't be much fun at all - the advantage would be on a hunting group's side. Escorting big warships or merchants, meanwhile, is a great challenge that gives both sides distinct advantages and with time factored in - gives both sides a fair chance.

It's a correct decision for a good, dynamic multiplayer match.

God rays?!?!?

God rays are the rays of sun light you see coming down from in between clouds.

Ohhh

You know, strangely I always assumed those to be photoshopped on the screenshots :p

I bet that because of my video card, this is one of the features I'll have to turn off for the time being, though

I bet that because of my video card, this is one of the features I'll have to turn off for the time being, though CCIP, by the time you ever see this title in Canada (yes, your worst fears realized), you will have in all likelihood upgraded you system. So by then you'll be able to enjoy the rays in all their glory (that's the good news).

Wait, what, SHIV won't be out here for another year? :o

(I don't plan to upgrade my video card before I switch to a PCI-E system next year, and I don't really see a point in getting another AGP card instead of my current one (GeForce 6800OC) before then)

Didn't you read the latest update on Ubi's site? Look at the bright side: there will be lots of AARs to read and a ton of screenshots from those enjoying the game.
