So im playing TGW1.1 with SH3 Commander and im going to be starting my 8th patrol soon. I have one concern, where are the planes in this game. Since i dont get many chances to play SH3 i use TC around 128. For a long time before this current career i maxed out on TC and was cruising. But i read that if u lower ur TC then ur more likely to spot ships and aircraft. Now going about 128 for TC im running into ships and convoys a lot more which is great. But i want to spot some planes and get some real excitment. Now i know in reallife having a plane over heard especially an enemy plane would cause panic and chaos. So Im asking u guys wat should i do to solve this problem?

tc 128 is fine . if you want aircraft go between scotland and north of scapa.
and yes using high tc means you will miss loads

in an earlier career i was going to attack the Port of Alexandria in the Med and was spotted by a Hurricane. So i took it out with my AA guns, then another Hurricane came, took that out, then one of those Search and Rescue planes with the DPs on it came and almost took me out, then awhole bunch of DDs and Flowers came in to finish me off. I was going about 536 TC when the first Hurricane was reported, must have been lucky.:hmm::hmm:
I got one career in about Oct43 and those Allied planes are every where. My crew have just got time to put the rubbish out and have a good fart before we crash dive fyet a again.

Met a lot of biplane around scotland / scapa flow in 1939/1940 recently. Always by patrol of 2... sometime a second patrol join the first just few minutes after...
going deep... real deep ^^
Planes are much more frequent in GWX. Damn you, flyboys!

Now i just watched a show about the Bismark and how WW1 technology sunk it, The Bi-Plane. those Bi-Planes were armed with Torpodes. But are the SH3 Bi-Planes armed with Torpodes or bombs?

So far have seen only bombs, but i believe i read somewhere that a torp mod is being worked on , or has already been completed... maybe even GWX patch 1.02?

I am quite happy personnally when I don't see planes, except when they are from our side and bomb the DDs chasing me...:D

Bay of Biscay
Pretty bad from Summer of 1942 onward.
Hellish after May 1943.
I almost run out of battery power every time I cross the bay.
One time I was attacked 10 minutes after I surfaced for 3 days.
My batteries were almost completely drained when I finally broke out into the Atlantic.
I use x512 and x1024 TC.

I use a type IX and to be honest it's really annoying how long these take to submerge when under attack. tried running "decks awash" which is better and safer, but it costs you so much more fuel.
Be happy you've not seen any yet, because when you do...........

I'd now like to add that after two more airstrikes I'm down to 82% Hull integrity:cry:

along these lines, I know you have to watch your batteries, but always has me worried is the buildup of CO2... How far do you let the needle go before surfacing, and what do you figure is max CO2? I'm not interested in finding out firsthand..:nope::nope:

id say when it hits the red mark. i think the yellow mark is just there to warn you that it would be best to surface asap

I think he means that being surfaced by day you have earlier warning than when they come at you at night...;)

That makes alot more sense, cause during the day time you can see the planes before they r on time of u, but at night its very hard to spot planes until they turn the lights on and bomb u
In GWX I don't mess with airplanes--Alaaarm and down we go. Been attacked by Hurricanes, Spifires, Ansons, PBYs. Haven't seen Swordfish. Was attacked once by 8 4engine seaplanes. You would have thought I was a floating Berlin.
Thank you very much, I avoid airplanes. :roll:

but they always seem to find me in the bay of biscay:-? :rotfl:
seems like they have got a new U-508 finder installed:rotfl:

GWX = dive to avoid planes unless you're feeling lucky. :roll:

exactly. You can't see the buggers at night until its too late.

(I run GWX and SH3 Commander, no other mods). I save my flak gun ammo for trawlers. Sometimes for amusement on cargo ships. Never for planes. The only things I do when I spot a plane are:
1) Scream "Alaaaaarm!" in my worst fake German accent;
2) Hit the "C" key for crash dive;
3) Wait until submerged then knuckle to port;
4) Occasionally pop the hull on the bottom when I forget that I'm in less than 70m of water. (Then load Bernard into a vacant torpedo tube for "his" incompetence.)
I barely passed the flak gun Academy mission - I had problems taking out those ridiculous biplanes. No way I'm taking on a pair of Hurricanes.
My IXB is beautiful - truly beautiful. No holes in the IXB, thank you very much.

worst thing is when you spot a convoy and you head in their direction you get fairly close to them on the surface but then have to dive coz you get "airplane spotted" and cant catch up with the convoy. then coz the planes have seen you all the damn dd`s come over to investigate.
